OP you like simple questions and answers. So here's one:

Did the broker approach you out of the blue (phone call or otherwise), or did you approach them?

When in 2007 did you take out the loan. Specifically, was it on of after Good Friday?

This may sound silly but the Consumer Credit Act 2006 came into force on that day (it was the first day of the tax year). It will determine whether FOS has jurisdiction.

We also need to know who the broker was.

Please post your question again with some all information, this time it's not completely described and less informative about your actual problem.:)

No one can help - not enough information being given and questions being ignored.

Guy wants loan > broker organises loan > guy gets into arrears > guy finds out broker was dodgy > guy wants compensation > guy gets £700 > guy appears to want to get out of paying the loan back for several other people

that's really what is coming across at the moment

The rules say I have to be nice to you.

    1) Would you be so kind as to stop throwing the word troll around.

    2) Please would you encourage the original poster to provide the additional information requested, on numerous occasions. Then I think more help will be found.

    Thanks.

    How, exactly?

If you're not the OP (which I suspect you are), they've given barely any relevant, helpful information at all.
