O2 Carphone Warehouse Select - retention deal?
Ok I just got a phone call from a scouser who said he was calling from O2 Carphone Warehouse. I recently wrote to cpw to cancel my contract (which had 11 months free cashback with e2save).
He explained that he was aware I contacted cpw to cancel my contract and wanted to offer me to stay with them at no further cost, I was on 1000 off peak mins,
now offered to keep the same handset and would now get 750 off peak mins at £25 p/m but they would credit my account with £300 now. So totally free and no dodgy cheques to deal with
The phone number that rang me was 01925 555601, quick google came up as a nuisance call number but it does seem to be from cpw as others mentioned.
I accepted the offer but I'm hoping someone can reassure me that it's all above board

Yes its all above board
750 mins (off-peak, cross-network) + 125 Texts for £25pm
No New Mobile
They pay £300 up-front within 30 days
So effectively 12 months free contract, and this is with o2 which keeps 0870/0845/0844 as inclusive

Thanks shoaib! might cancel the itemised billing on the account, never had any use for it. To ensure I don't get charged after the 12 months I take it I have to write to them 11 months from now to cancel right?SLC: £13000+

30 days notice is required, and CPW require written notice! so yes during your 11 month towards the middle of the month I would give the notice.LL.B (Hons)0

CPW's 02 terms and conditons state "at least" 30 days notice is required. Therefore it should be possible to give longer notice than this, thus ensuring that you don't miss the boat. Also, I understand that DRN is required. apparently you have to call CPW, get a DRN, which is a disconnection number, then write to them.0 -
Before I wrote to initially cancel, I rang O2 CPW and was not given anything to qoute in the letter, also I wrote before the last 30 days to be on the safe side.SLC: £13000+

Yes this is interesting. Various posts on here say that a Disconnection Reference Number is required. Yet this requirement is not apparent in any literature either published on their website, nor in their packs sent out with the handsets.0

My contract expires 2 oct. with cpw o2. YEsterday I phoned them to see if they will match Three £28 a month N95 £49.99 for the phone 750 mins and 100 txt.
Anyway I was told someone will call me today. When I mentioned above deal I was told 3 don't do N95, I said they do, it's on there website.. He checked.. then he said go for that.
Put the phone dowm.. He called back and said out of courtesy they will put my tariff down to £20 a month instead of £35.. I said I don't want to be tied to a contract.. He said no way.. it was out of courtesy he is doing it..
Do you think I have been had.. and how can I find out, If I have been tied to 12 months contract or not
thanks

So, you will need to record your conversations, or better still, ask the guy to write to yoiu with full detail of the offer. If he refuses to do this, then I would suggest that it would be prudent for you to be suspicious.0 -
Hi
I asked him to email. He said they don't send email and he is not trying to con me.
I have phoned cpw 02, and was told my contract is still £35. I have also emailed them through their website.
Thanks
