What a thing to be doing at 4.00 am :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I know!!!! Its very sad when you start calculations in the middle of the night. Worse when you think 7 years is no time .......and then think what age your kids will be! Then think life's to short and want to book loads of holidays lol. I don't think this will be an easy ride, but if it was everyone would do it.

Also at risk of redundancy so this plan could change drastically!!!!

    Payday soon- woooo hooooo

Lucky you've done your house up so fast. End sept is no time. Yes lucky we started this journey at the same time but your much more dedicated and steady. Some weeks I'm all for it and saving coffee money etc and next min I'm saying to myself life's to short and taking kids on expensive trips instead of my carefully planned freebies lol

Found a brilliant place for a £5 lunch today!!!! You get a sandwich or a salad and either chips or soup and a soft drink or tea or coffee!!! Brilliant!!! Now I know if I bring my lunch from home it's much cheaper but this is a great deal for when we do go out!!!

    Yum yum!!!

Lucky- I think you know by now I'm off the wagon more than on it! But I've done a big cook off and frozen meals for the kids. Much cheaper and healthier than grabbing stir in pasta sauces etc.

Also did a proper food shop this week and think we have plenty of meals. So much of my cash disappears on food and I've nothing to show for it.

So this week has to be a mfw week!!!

Somewhere on here, I was reading about having "ingredients" for meals, rather than meals, and that it was a lot cheaper that way :) In spite of being off the wagon, as you say, you're still overpaying the mortgage - good for you!

That sounds interesting. I'll have a search for that.

I usually make spaghetti bol or chilli and fry a big packet of mince and onions and whatever else is hanging about. Roast cheap tomatoes with basil and drizzle in garlic olive oil, throw in oven for 30 mins at 180 and whizz. Then throw that in with mince.
Use half the mince For making dinner that night and make lasagne with the rest. I usually get a family lasagne and 2 single portion dishes for kids for the days I'm working.

The above is a bit of effort. My fav 0 effort pasta sauce dinner is to steam mushrooms and courgettes. You need to peal courgettes if you don't want sauce to be green- then whizz- throw in cheese to thicken and add pepper. Kids love this pasta sauce!!!!! I can't wait to tell them when they are older it's made by their most hated veg!!!! I don't usually even do this but some times do a bit of fish and throw it in. Easy guilt free and cheap!

I've gone on hear and actually realised that the above is actually my kids stable diet. So any other easy kid friendly recipie ideas welcome!!!
