Thanks Bob x Tory majorities always have that effect on me. It's like a black cloud sitting over my head for a few days. It wasn't a good election for local councils here either, so I was surprised to win my seat, but I did quite well. I submitted quite a glamorous photo for the publicity, lol. Actually, the one I originally wanted to use turned out to be no good because I'd got a glass of lager......in each hand! Not the look I was really going for. So I submitted this other one, & mr f (how bloody cheeky is this?!) said he thought I might get the 'randy pensioner' vote!! I poked him hard in the arm & reminded him that he's a few years younger than me & I'm nowhere near my pension so he could shut it with the 'pensioner vote' comments!!
Can feel big surge of money saving activity coming on for next week & a burst of 'doing-stuff-itis'.

So... my mum paid the deposit on another car today. I had the devil's own job trying to bargain the price down as she's so rubbish at it and so failed miserably. I kicked her under the table at the point I stood up to say if there was no movement in price then the deal was off and she wailed 'but I waaaaaant it!' Standing there telling her she couldn't afford to pay the full price resulted in her saying in front of them 'Yes I can!' Then, resigned to her having to pay full price, I asked them to replace or touch up the paint on a wing mirror that has been scraped and she said 'Oh, it's only a little bit' so I was scuppered there too  I definitely take after my dad :rotfl:
It is however a lovely car but I now have to try to sell hers privately (which is all hassle I could do without) to make back some of the money they wouldn't chop off the price/give her as a trade in (despite buying it from them 8 months ago for £1,300 more than they are offering as a trade in.)
We then discovered that DH had left his keys indoors and DS has lost mine so we were locked out. A locksmith was going to charge £75 to let us in but instead we knocked in the broken glass in the leaded bit of the door (the bit I repaired the other week with sticky-back plastic!) and will have to get it repaired properly now. At least it was broken anywayWe just have to remember to put the Chubb lock on every time we go out and when we go to bed until it's repaired.
I cooked chicken and noodles for dinner tonight and froze the leftover half can of coconut milk and the only partly squeezed lime halves for later in the week as we have more chicken breast in the freezer and half a pack of noodles left still. I'm not sure whether to freeze the Thai green curry paste in portions too as it only lasts about a month and the recipe only calls for a spoonful. I need to hunt out an ice cube ray or summat.
I cleaned DS's room from top to bottom as he insists his keys are in there (both the old ones and the recent replacements) but only turned up mine and there's no way I'm ever lending him mine again! I did discover some new life forms in there. Hot chocolate, made with milk, left in a lidded thermal cup for several weeks had me retching, I don't know why I even took the lid off, it was heavy so I knew it was full and that nothing good was going to be coming out of there!

Thanks Ally.
FVD - That reminded me of when I went to buy my first ever car. I was 25 & I had £2,500 to spend. I'd seen a car I wanted at a 2nd hand dealer & asked my Dad to come along with me so as I didn't get ripped off. Bloody hell, this was his help:
Me: I do want the car, but I think it's a bit overpriced at £2,500 as it needs a bit of a paint job on the wing.
Salesman: So are you making me an offer?
Me: Yes, I'd be prepared to pay £2250 but that's it.
Salesman: I'd have to just go & ask my boss. (He left the office, bet he just pretended to go & ask his boss, then came back in)
Me: Well?
Salesman: He says he could go to £2400 but that's it.
Me: Oh, well I'm not prepared to pay that, it's too much.
MY DAD (silent up until now): Well, you have got £2,400 because you said you'd go up to £2,500.
Eh????? He honestly couldn't see how this wasn't helpful! Said the negotiations seemed to be at stalemate so he was trying to move things on!

Foxgloves - how cheeky of Mr F! I think people are often more capable of voting for good people at a local level. They can see a genuine interest in the community which is harder to fudge than the bs bingo they throw at you from a national level. Out of interest what are you hoping to change the most in your area? If that isn't too personal or too big of a thing to explain.
FVD - gosh your mum sounds a handful. At least you tried to get her a bargain! As for your son and his key losing antics...that must be incredibly frustrating. I feel for you on lock changing. I had to pay £250 for an emergency locksmith to change the shop locks after the burglary. I didn't have a choice as the police instructed it. Very irritating!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Home from work pjs on and a nice mug of cappicunio whilst I've been reading! Quiet one this evening but £9.50 in tips. Not had any sos call from the nightclub so home by 12.30 as a nice early close. Wages came to right pub, so need to hunt down any more :j plus I've received all overtime owing :T
Really productive day today, more work done in living room. Bookcase set up to mirror another in room, this one however is for all children craft bits etc. being picking things up last couple of weeks so lots of little craft activites to do for a little while - hopefully entertain them rather than them trashing the house :rotfl:
Congratulations to foxgloves :rotfl: I was disappointed appointed with election. However tonight our area is now been confirmed (after recount) as Labour  was so happy to hear this
Few hours overtime again tomorrow. Then maybe I'll get a few hours in the garden if the sunshine comes this way.
Debt free date should be mid August. I could push it do be sooner but with projects in house/garden and savings some penny's towards a holiday I'm going to keep with the same planned payments (0%) however going to keep trying to pull the pennies in so I can put them towards other things

Grey, windy and cold out so it will be a day indoors. Planning to Kondo my airing cupboard, how exciting is that?
I Kondo'd my airing cup too last night! I was trying to find sheets for dgd's bed and I was struggling through the mess and thought this is ridiculous so pulled it all out, kept a spare for each bed and got rid of the rest. Amazing! Such ridiculous hoarding behaviourBedding that long ago had it's day, tatty, worn and never gets used just cluttering up the space. Now what is left is neatly tidied up :T
