You should have left the unedited version with the threat of violence, it'd save people time bothering to try and reply helpfully in future.0 -

To be honest it could be worse
- could be every weekend
- could be across whole weekend
- could be weekdays
- could be someone less receptive or acknowledging of an issue
- could have him move out and someone worse move in
- no pet noise
- my other neighbour is quiet as a mouse so at least not both
...right? !
If the plugs had not worked on Saturday, I would have told him yesterday.
As people say, 21st century problem.
My parents live in a detached house. No noise. But definitely stressful issues from the neighbouring semi detached neighbours over years.
Read this from a few weeks ago. I'm trying to make it work0 -
Twice a month doesn't sound too bad. It doesn't sound like he is deliberately doing it, more that it's part of his social life/routine.
is there any way of swapping your bedroom and lounge around? Would this help at all?
Have you got carpet? This might help deaden some of the noise (then again it might be mainly through the walls).
Noise is one of those things, it can be stressful and if you're already stressed it doesn't help.
I hope you can find a solution or a compromise with your neighbour.

Thanks
Never insinuated it was deliberate
Don't have carpet - laminate
And similar to my thinking ...twice a month doesn't feel too bad as long as it's not weekdays or becomes every weekend. This is why so far I've never directly raised it with him or the management company.0 -

No threat of violence. Just your troll brother trolling again.0 -

Through the walls. Think my bedroom may border his living room.0 -
It's horrible though. I think everyone has their own tolerance levels and what noise they can accept. Some people aren't bothered by living near a road but would be bothered by a baby crying next door. It's so subjective.
Unfortunately it doesn't sound like he's doing anything wrong and it doesn't sound like it would be reasonable for him to adapt his behaviour, it sounds like a problem with the sound proofing so the balls in your court, really
Personally I'd probably look at shelling out for the extra insulation if I was going to live there and the noise was bothering me if I could afford it. Somethings are worth paying for.

I think your neighbour sounds like a decent enough bloke. He did let you know he was having friends round, and he did say to knock if it was too loud.
Now, if you think it is too loud, but don't knock to let him know, he's going to think that the level his music is playing at is ok, and you're going to have to keep using earplugs or going to stay at your parent's house.0 -

I wasn't worried, your type rarely resort to violence.0
