The simple fact is when purchasing a flat you're taking a gamble. I got lucky, clearly you believe you didn't.
So you either mitigate it and stay put or sell up. Those really are your only two options.
True. It's not a long term place. Was planning on moving in next year or two.
As I say I do like it. My other neighbour is totally quiet.
This neighbour, if he has a party tjd odd sat or Fri, that's fine.
But twice now when I've had to be up at work next day. Forcing me to sleep on a couch, get bad sleep and back.
I'll see how the polite note goes down, but I'm certainly not getting forced out anywhere.0 -

Unless you own the freehold you are leasing, you don't own jack.0 -

Well he/she owns a bit of paper with 'lease' and a few hundred other words on it0 -

How is playing loud music / partying from 1-6am on a Sunday accommodating? Iin who's dictionary is that the case? Actually, don't answer. This and other posts of yours show you simply don't have a clue here. Sorry.
Aww I'm glad you took the time to read my other posts
Accommodating in that they've spoken to you about it, including giving you the option of telling them if it's too loud.
Well 1am-6am on a Sunday would be ok in my book, as I'd not be in work for another 27hours0 -
try these, very comfy, you really don't know you're wearing them, and block a lot of noise, much better than bioears

The point that others are making, albeit in not very polite ways, is that this noise is intermittent and therefore difficult to pusue with the council, as a daily noise would be. It relates just to someone else having a good time at hours inconvenient for you.
If you have neighbours for whom it's also inconvenient, the pressure of numbers can help, but many people aren't aware of neighbours these days.
So, you may be left with the task of trying to control the actions of your occasionally noisy neighbour alone; something that rarely works, unless you can do something which annoys them equally.
Meanwhile, because the noise is intermittent, you become sensitised to it and live on edge, wondering when it will start.
Coping in adverse situations is all about being adaptable, but you don't seem willing to make alternative sleeping arrangements because of 'some road noise.' Well, millions of people live with that.
If you really need to sleep, and you aren't mentally wound-up like a spring, you will.
Many, many years ago, I use to go to all night rock concerts in an old train shed, but I could never get past 03.00 conscious. I wasn't alone. There were many of us in sleeping bags, lined out below the stage, and we stayed asleep, oblivious until they opened the doors and kicked us out at about 06.30. Not a great audience, but proof that even 1000watts of heavy music isn't impossible to sleep through!0 -
Thanks Dave. A sensible post from someone.
Neighbour replied to my polite request apologising, saying HD lost control of his guests and because I'm quiet he thought I was out.
The assertive, polite and diplomatic approach has worked for now.
Well, being a HOMEOWNER, I've learnt quite a bit.
But I think terraced will be my next affordable move in a year or two. Do you guys get much noise? I was brought up in a terrace, but tok young to remember, then moved to an end town house as a child, before the detached family residence at 13 (social mobility :rotfl: ). So I wonder how terraces are like for containing noise ..and neighbours0 -

Ah I thought bioears were supposed to be the best.
Thanks I'll give these a try too.
Im always concerned about not hearing tjd alarm with plugs on, which doesn't help me getting to sleep sometimes when I need to use them0 -
