noise

Just moved into 2nd floor (top) owner occupied flat.
Was introduced to 2 neighbours either side. Seemed fine enough. I asked one if hr got much noise ..m he said 'only when me and my girlfriend like a dance'.
This is my second night and he's brought a couple friends around and music is loudish. Walls seem quite thin.
I've just spent thousands moving and not sure I could take this. It's only been 5 minutes. First night was fine.
I'm on the brink with other stuff anyway but close to driving the 5 minutes to my parents.
Anything I can do? Leave it it's Friday night? Speak to him? Wait a few more weeks and see if it's regular? Speak to management company?
Or just ear plugs?
Help

Seriously are you just trolling?
'Owner occupied'
'Need somewhere to live'
So moronic0 -
it may just be a one off so personally i would leave it be for now, unless i had to be up early the next day or it went on to late then i would be having words.
if it bothers you mention it in passing as they may not actually realise that they are stealing your silence.
if it becomes regular have a serious word and if still no joy escalate it up to the management companyLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
I've had this before. Very thin wall between my bedroom and thei living room and it was effing awful. It didn't help that they were a pair of selfish a-holes who weren't interested in mediation or meeting me half way and it was every night, not just Friday.
Talk to your neighbour. He might not realise how much of his noise you can hear. I'd say the odd Friday or Saturday night (assuming you don't work weekends) is not too bad. Did the noise prevent you from getting to sleep?0 -
Well it was Friday night and people do entertain more at weekends so maybe you should wait a few days and see if there is a patern to the noise before you complain. If you can use ear plugs then use them. I prefer quiet music through my very comfy head phones.0

I went to parents in thr end.
I'm just not used to this.
It was my second night at new place. Supposed to be thr good bit now.
Not sure what to do as it was the first incident but think there will be others.
I will get some ear plugs next time. ...any recommendations?
So where's the line? Friday and Saturday it's fine as long as I'm not working as rest of the week is quiet?
Or, occasional Friday or Saturday Is tolerable?
It shouldn't matter if I'm working or not because maybe I've had a busy time in the week and just want good rest.0 -
Ref ear plugs, OH swears by bio ears. They are silicone.
Is this your first time away from the family home and all the comforts that provided?
Give it a few weeks. See how often the loud noise goes on for.
If it is just the weekends (fri/sat) then you may need just to put up with it.
If its during the week as well then you may need to take a firmer stand.
What time did they finish-up to midnight ,again you may need to put up with it.
Talk nicely to them and ask did they realise how much their music travels. Of course if you can hear them, they can hear you.
Running back to mum and dad is not the answer.0 -

I think you have to allow neighbours a one off - will you never ever have guests over after 9pm the entire time you'll be living there? If it's every weekend I'd be tempted to have a quiet (polite) chat with them. But so far, it's only happened once. See what happens next.0 -
It's only been once. Sounds like you are stressed and the slightest annoyance is being magnified.
Flats do have noise, it's the nature of being attached to others. However constant noise is different. You don't know if it's constsnt yet, just see what happens and if it persists then speak to them.0 -
Sometimes you'll hear noise from your neighbour. That's not just living in a flat but a semi-detached or terraced house too. There needs to be some give and take so yes sometimes you'll just need to put up with it. Just as your neighbours will have to put up with yours. You might not think you make any noise but as you live on the top floor I bet the people living below can hear you.0
