It's not surprising at all. See my previous post. Men are better at some things than women, and vice versa. But the important point is that some jobs appeal to men more than they do to women (and vice versa), hence the discrepancies.

Or that what we're taught as we grow up.:)

Obviously women couldn't physically cope with heavy work in the shipyards and factories and would hate the work until the shortage of labour during the wars showed that they could do the work and enjoyed it.

Obviously men weren't any good at typing so typing pools were full of women until computers came on the scene and men suddenly found that their fingers did work the same way as all the 'girls'.

And endless other examples... The pressures that steer boys and girls into certain occupations aren't as blatant as they used to be but are just as powerful.

Do stop trolling - no-one with more than half a brain thinks like that anymore. You are just being silly.

    Out-dated, sexist twaddle.

AubreyMac - if the school really did what they did (and the person concerned had gone through all the usual checks e.g. CRB) then that is discrimination.

There speaks the militant feminist who won't accept the truth because it conflicts with so-called "modern values". I'll say it again: woman and men have different interests and aspirations and each are better at some jobs than the other, so stop burying your head in the sand and get over it.

Rubbish! And since when is stating an opinion trolling? Oh, I know, when it conflicts with your own inflexible point-of-view.

This is what you should do - got to the Telegraph and Guardian online and read all the articles by the feministas. Then check out the comments. It'll be an eye-openers for you!

I think your previous post is bullshine.

ETA: that refers to ginger bob's plea for me to look at this PP - in which he states that women (not 'most', just women) are better at being primary school teachers and administrators.

You disagree? Of course there are some good male primary school teachers and administrators as well. But generally speaking, women are better at these particular jobs - in my humble opinion, and that of the silent majority, who now dare not speak out for fear of being branded sexists, bigots or whatever.

I honestly don't think they are powerful anymore. In most companies as management ages and dies or is pensioned off and replaced with younger people (men and women) who were raised in a different age it just isn't a serious contention anymore.

Look at Karen Brady- No-one would think it odd a woman running a football club now - but when she was the first it was considered extraordinary. No-one thinks it is odd Hilary Clinton may be a presidential candidate now either (at least not based on her sex) , if a young woman wants to study engineering at uni no-one tells her she shouldn't do it or thinks it is odd. Technology means that any difference in physical strength between the sexes is a non issue -and there were always women who were physically strong and weedy men in the past too anyway !

Or maybe fear of been thought not very bright and incapable of logical thought and reasoning :rotfl::rotfl:

Is "the silent majority" another name for your invisible friend ? :D

(Oh and I've worked in education and seen the dynamics first hand -have you ?)

Yep comments on the web are serious research tools.
You are becoming funnier and funnier .

It isn't anything to do with feminism -it is to do with commonsense.
Let me guess 63 years old -never worked in education and hates it when women disagree with your viewpoint . Back to the Arms with you ! Shoo !

Although there are many female bosses around nowadays in all sorts of industries, in my experience and being brutally honest, I have mostly hated being managed by a woman.

I have found that they can be petty and always wanting to 'get one over' on others. I think that many female managers feel they need to be ruthless and heartless to be 'on top' which really isn't the case at all.

It's been a long time since I've watched the apprentice but you do see it in the teams when a female is appointed the team leader and you also see other (mainly female) candidates saying they don't enjoy being managed by a woman too.

Having said that though, the best manager I've had was a woman too.
