Wife had letter to attend medical. To be fair, it does say you can only postpone the once.
Anyway, first date given we were on holidays. So she phoned them and arranged a date over the phone. All sorted - confirmation letter arrived. All arranged for end of May.
Saturday she gets letter about new appointment THIS THURSDAY. No explanation as to why its changed or anything just standard letter.
So she phoned them. Apparently, date end of may they dont have anyone available so its got to be Thursday.
Shes got a hospital appt that clashes on Thursday so she told them she can't do that. Sorry you've changed one appointment you can't do another. Even if she didnt have a hospital appt there is little chance she could get childcare sorted in 3 working days.
OMG. Are they stupid? It was all sorted. THEY were the ones who changed the re-arranged appointment. Talk about taking the mick. They obviously had a few appointments come up and trying to cram people in. 3 days notice is beyond.
They would not change it 100%. It gets worse - asked to speak to manager - will call back within 48 hours!
Fuming.... :mad::mad::mad::mad:
Wife has a condition exacerbated by stress so they're not helping at all.

You prioritised a holiday over the assessment. It does not seem unreasonable to now have to take any appointment offered.0
-
Call the hospital, explain the situation, ask if appointment can be moved to a different time. I have done that a number of time when I had a very good reason for it and each time I was accommodated by the secretary.
Then she can go with the children if most do. If it was for a job interview, what would she do?0 -

Nice attitude. So you suggest we lose £1000 by cancelling the holiday? To get £25 a week - makes sense doesnt it?
You obviously did not read my post. They allow you to postpone it ONCE. This seems fair to me. We did this and arranged a new date.
THEY then cancelled this new date and forced a new date with 3 days notice so we're back to square one. Then refused to change this one.0 -

There is more than one issue here. Which was why she phoned, arranged a date with them when it was convenient. Its not so easy taking a 2 year old to this sort of thing as well.
The point is this was all sorted and now through they're bad planning they've dictated another date with 3 days notice. Appreciate the rule about cancelling more than once is there to stop people messing about but we've done it in good faith. Postponed first one, arranged 2nd one - they then changed it.
Any reasonable person would find it appropriate that they allow a second cancellation when THEY have cancelled the rescheduled appt.
Job interview. Don't know about you but I've never had an interview where they demand I attend at x time on x date. Usually its a case of, we've got these dates available when can you make it? I'm a contract worker so get lots of interviews.
To be honest, if a client cancelled an interview with me, then demand I turn up on their specified time 3 days later and didnt consider reschedule, then I wouldnt want to work somewhere like that anyway.0 -
Change the hospital appointment date. Its not hard.0

Agree, change the hospital apt and if needs be take the kids with you.
Perhaps one of the assessors is on holiday the day of your appointment and they have nobody to see your wife.
3 days notice is not the end of the world.0 -
My understanding is that for any appointment to be mandatory, you must be given seven days notice.
Was the letter posted eight days ago?0 -
The second apointment was arranged to suit you since they arranged the time throught talking to your wife on the phone. That was going above what they had to do. The fact that they can't offer that date any longer and the one they have given instead doesn't suit you is irrelevant to them. It's a pain, but they are doing nothing wrong.0

Right so wife has got to change hospital appointment and wait even longer for an appt shes waited months for because the PIP people can't organise themselves? So its ok for them to cancel when its inconvenient but not ok for you to do so?
That attitude is the problem with this country...
If they were cancelling they should have PHONED, APOLOGISED and arrange a mutually convenient time. NOT send a letter DEMANDING attendance in three days and refusing to be flexible at all.
3 days notice might not be a problem for you but it is for some of us.0 -

Nope. Changing the first one is not above and beyond what they have to do. It clearly states on the initial appt letter that you are allowed to change ONCE.
Any REASONABLE person (i.e. not including those of you on this forum who just like to argue) would suggest that by them changing it to another date (and also at short notice) would be SENSIBLE to allow this date to be changed.0
