  • Thanks mums - more positive this morning and a day off yay!
Finally got round to doing a signature - writing this post to see if its worked.

  • Really want to round up my holiday pot to £200. Have listed 2 things on gumtree for £10 each so I'm hoping one of them sells so i can reach my little mini goal!!
One week until payday and still waiting on cash back payments.
Had a phone call from one of the ppi claiming companies last week which i usually hang up on but for some reason i got talking to this one. I am 100% sure i never took ppi on any loans i had but she got talking about credit cards and mentioned that often some of the companies hid the charges. Now i don't think i did have it on any previous cards but i can't be certain and i wouldn't put it past some of the cc companies to fool me! so i just thought i would go along with it. I know these companies charge but its no win no fee and i don't have any of the information from these old, closed accounts so if they want to chase it up thats fine by me. I don't expect anything back from this but i would very much welcome it if I am owed it. One thing is sure is that I don't think I took it out so if I did, it was most definitely miss old. Its a possibility for extra money to come in.

    Have a good day x

£60 cash back has become payable :j
I was going to split it between my cc and my savings but i have decided to put it all into my florida pot. I know that goes against the grain of mse somewhat but my thoughts are firstly that my debt is all 0%. Secondly, I have already made my monthly budget really tight and frugal in order to make the debt repayments that i am making and the totals are coming down nicely. Thirdly, it has become a challenge to pay for the holiday with 'extra' money not from our normal salaries, which is a pretty big challenge but would be impossible if i split the 'extra' income to debts as well. By this time next year, i will be ecstatic to think i have paid for my holiday with extra income and not used a credit card AND my debt has decreased as well. So even though my debt repayment will be a bit slower, i think this is preferable for me rather than going all out and then using a credit card to pay for a holiday that I feel we deserve (what has always happened in the past!)
So my holiday pot is now £250:T

  • Morning

I had this same dilemma when I was trying to save for my holiday and in the end decided that now was the time to have our break rather than when Littley was older. So although it feels as though it's going against everything mse stands for it's not really as you're still paying off your debts, just at a slightly slower rate. Once you've had your holiday you'll be able to put the extra money into your debts and you'll be well away.

  • Hooray its payday number 1 :T

I have today paid off my tesco credit card :j will wait a few days and then close the account. I am feeling really good about that. One less credit card to pay.

I have also paid £50 to the other tesco card, £181.26 to one barclaycard and £100 to the other. We are also having a reasonably priced holiday this summer which I have paid for today, which was £1400. I cannot tell you how positive I feel that this has not been paid for by credit card. Will be a good value 2 week holiday which will be lovely for that fact alone.

I have been shopping today at lidl and my mother had given me a coupon from the sun for £5 off. So my shop came to £58 and I put £2.50 of the saved money into my holiday account.

So financially it is a pretty good day. Weather wise its grotty. But thats not dragging me down today :)

Have a good day everyone x

  • Yay well done on paying off the card - a great feeling I'll bet!!!!
Make £10 per day in May £89.29/£310
  • Thanks mums - it is great!! I know that I have the big balances to come but I have to take the same approach with them. I just need to keep going, NEVER USE THE CREDIT CARDS!!, and keep them on 0%. That way, the balances come down constantly and I can still enjoy doing stuff with my family. This approach seems to be working well for me. I have tried the super frugal approach in the past but I just end up failing because I want to do things as a family and because there isn't enough room in the budget, end up going back to the credit cards. NEVER AGAIN!!
