Yes they do, it wouldn't be a problem incorporating a shower to the rear of the WC.

Just a though...
Have you consider removing the wall between living room and entry hallway?
This will create a bigger living room. And since you already have porch, there won't be problem of feeling cold when sitting in living room when someone enter the house.0 -

I am not the OP, but I dont like to enter right into a main room, even if there is a porch. It would mean having to go through living room to get to kichen too. Much prefer a hallway, and in this size of house I would expect a hallway.0 -
That's what I had in mind re: first floor plan, looks good.
Have you thought about removing the wall between the utility and the corridor you've created? Utilities are great, and even more useful if the back door opens straight into it. The door from the family room, and from the dining room passing the WC would be ok to open directly into it also, and it would provide a bit more space.0 -

Yes that's something that my wife favours, I didn't like the fact that you were then accessing the toilet through the laundry, and it didn't actually add much usable space to the room.

It's something we were considering when deciding to add a rear extension or not, if we had only converted the garage and not added the rear extension we would have wanted the extra space, but with the extra room that the rear extension brings we'll be looking to use the living room as a much more formal space.0 -

We have our loo/utility room in exactly this layout and it works fine. A wall as per your original plan would drive me nuts. Not sure on the sizing of ours compared with yours but where they are it's the width of the original single garage.
You may think a wall doesn't take up much space, but we originally had a separate toilet and bathroom upstairs. When we took out the dividing wall it made the room seem miles bigger and we got a separate shower cubicle in the space where one of the two doors had been.
Edit: Is that loo large enough for disabled use, I believe it's a requirement now even if nobody disabled ever visits your house. We wouldn't get permission now for ours.Make £2026 in 2026

I could be wrong, but I've been led to believe that as it's a conversion ie from garage with WC to living space with WC, it just has to be no less satisfactory than before, the current WC is a whopping 1200x900 :eek:0 -
Tempted to throw a cat amongst the pigeons here...
It seems a shame to have the kitchen in the middle of the house, have you considered a new kitchen in the current garage? With the dining room in the current kitchen space, maybe with a utility under the stairs.
It might not fit or flow properly, but the kitchen is such a hub of the house the big bay window and potential to back onto the garden seems a waste.0 -

I agree.
Your utility room looks out onto the back garden - seems a waste to me. I would have kitchen and dining all down the right-hand side opening out onto back garden.
Is it a driveway that the kitchen and dining look out onto in your plans?0 -
The utility room needs to stay there as we have a dog who is addicted to mud, it's great being able to shower her down at the back door then take her into the laundry to dry her off.
Hopefully we'll be able to loose all of the front driveway/parking area, extend the existing hedge fully across the front and establish a garden there. A new single garage will go on the rear of the section, with additional parking for two cars, fingers crossed the planners will be happy with that solution.0
