job centre demanding I look for full time work as have no children

I was employed for over a year in my last job, I was part time for 8 months as I have lots of activities and paid off my mortgage so can survive on this easily.
Now I've signed on the jc say I must look for full time work as single without children. Igave up after a few times saying I didn't want to and now just lie.
All I get is JSA and CTS. Can they sanction me if they find out I'm only looking for part time work?

They can, yes. If you want the state to support you then your activities will have to come second to work/ job seeking.0

Well I only want the state to support me while I get a job that is the same working hours as before. As a higher rate tax payer for many years a d no children I'm a massive net contributed and the 50 quid a week after tax is a bit insulting.
There must be some way looking for part time is acceptable? Can I say I'm starting a business?0 -
Just quit the benefits. Then you need to answer to no one. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

If you find the amount to be a bit insulting then maybe you'd be best to sign off and support yourself?
(You are having a wind up here, aren't you?)0 -
Surely a high rate tax payer who doesn't need a full time job will manage fine without claiming JSA?
If you don't want a full time job stop claiming JSA. Remember, they won't be sat thinking you'll walk into another high paid job quickly, because they aren't the most abundant. To keep to their contract you will have to search for allsorts,I'd imagine, as the type of work your used to won't be around so much and you have to spend so many hours and apply for so many jobs etc on JSA?
I agree this has to be a wind upIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Here's a compromise...only look for part time work, say half normal hours, and only apply for half JSA.0

That was your mistake you see,,working most of your life and supporting yourself. They just expect you to carry on as before. If you had been
f eckless from the get go ,you would have been set up in a nice new house by now, bennys up to the hilt and be able to look forward to "retiring" having barely started work.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

They will only sanction you if they become aware that you aren't doing what you are told. The nature of the game is to pay lip service to all of their demands, knowing full well that there is very little chance of a full time job coming about.
It doesn't really take much effort to comply in order to get your entitlement. Smile nicely to them and they will leave you alone.
In the meantime if you did find a part time job all well and good, then smile at them again as you tell them that you are closing down your claim.
I personally point blankly refused to claim JSA, preferring ESA instead. They attempted to get me onto JSA a few years ago but that only lasted 1 day!
It's not the same as it was when the old Unemployment benefit was around - now that was easy street.
You have to be as two faced as they are!0 -

Op, just play by their rules.
You do know that you can have up to 5 cv's on UJM don't you?. That means that there is room for a really excellent proffessional looking cv and 1 that is full of spelling and grammatical errors that you send for jobs that you don't want to do.
I would also suggest checking-out http://www.boycottworkfare.org as the site has a lot of good info on how to not only avoid a sanction, but how to get one overturned.
