    Hi Catriona.
I am still here, plodding along trying to spend as little as possible.
Not doing too well with Christmas on the way. Hopefully next month when I get paid again. I can sort stuff out. This feels like a long month with two weeks to pay day. Then I can update my balances with the damage. :-(.

On a positive note. I have a slight pay rise. I think only about £30 a month but it all helps. I will find out for sure in two weeks time.

Back on the diet today. I lost 8 lbs the first week but have fallen off over the weekend. I have set my alarm for 6 am to do the insanity max 30.

I filled the car up yesterday so that was £45. A NSD though today.

I am saying no to myself and dd more than ever before. So that is some progress.

  • Glad you are doing well Rebecca01 :), Keep up the good work you will get there :)
  • I have just read your diary and thought I would say I think you are doing very well.

It is hard living with family. At the moment, I live with my brother, his wife and my two daughters! I am in the process of buying him out of our house, but they won’t be moving out for a fair few months yet (my brother and his wife, that is, my children are staying with me, haha).

Completely understand when you say you can’t do right for doing wrong with your mum. I’ve just started seeing someone and my mum has completely changed her view from thinking I never go anywhere or do anything to myself, to I’m neglecting my daughters because I dare to go out on school/work night. Can’t win!

I know it’s not easy, but I agree with what others say and to grin and bear it if you can afford to buy in 8 months time. You can always overpay on a mortgage and hopefully the payment will go down, but if you rent, there’s only one way the rent will be going each year and that’s up!

I live in Hertfordshire, and house prices are crazy. Sometimes I do wonder why I’m trying so hard. That I don’t get to see my daughters as I’m always working. My initial plan is to stay here until they start secondary school and then think about moving further out from London. My problem is I have always lived in London or the outskirts, so it would be a whole new start for me.

So I will be following your diary with interest, good luck!

I found you! I'm starting to learn how to use this forum.
Hope you're doing well. I know how you feel. Hated living with parents to get sorted but didn't actually pay anything off. Be the smug one - use this time to get yourself sorted. Could you sell the car as you don't need it for work? That would get that payment gone. I know it's for oh but isn't that his problem? I am mean! Sorry! Plus all the walking will do wonders for your figure.
You've got the same deadline as me but the opposite thing - I'm going rented your going mortgaged.
I've had a speedy month too but it's been Christmas shopping so can't be avoided. We have to fall off the path so we know its the right one. You can't nail it first time. Xxx

    Hi
Thanks for your post. Hope you are getting on ok.

I did think about selling the car. I do need it for work really as I measured it the other day it is three miles away. If I have a pile of books to mark I couldn't really carry them. Well that would be good exercise!

I also need it to take dd to activities etc and to pick her up from her Dads or take her round there sometimes. I can take her to soft play and nicer parks too. I dont think it would be worth it. Not when I could pay it off in five months if I knuckled down.

yep Christmas will probably hammer a lot of peoples debt busting. I should really plan for it from January this year.

I darent say it but living with my parents is going ok at the moment. Hope this lasts. :-||||
  • Well it is nearly pay day. This month feels like it has lasted forever.

I have ended up 330 in my overdraft and a bit more on my credit card.

So this months budget looks like this

    Pay 1368
    Child benefit 82
    Tax credits 250
    Maintenance 300
    Owed from ex 100

    Total. 2100

    Out
    Owed to od-330
    Car -172
    Sky 42
    Internet -56 ( be 16 next month)
    Trust fund 10
    Mobiles-52
    Total- 662

    Diff-£1438

Well the pre MSE me clearly has not saved for Christmas over the year.

    So
    £500 on Christmas
£438 food, petrol, christmas nights out
    £500 off the credit card.

Not as much as I would have liked but it is still £500 off the balance. At least this way I will have money and hopefully I will not have to use my credit card or overdraft again.

In other news my school has a day off on Friday ( in lieu of CPD) so me and my boyfriend are going to go Christmas shopping at the metro centre and stay over night in a hotel. He is paying to say Thank you for all of the lifts.
I love four day working weeks.
