Hey!
Aw dont feel too bad about over-spending - you're just more aware of it now - and means you'll probably cut back elsewhere to make up for it. I keep getting annoyed when I spend more than I wanted - but think I am actually already making huge changes from my care free spending before - so shouldn't get too frustrated. Have you looked at any new builds? All shiny and new and you can get really good mortgage rates especially if you use the help to buy scheme.Debt: £9,750/[STRIKE] £27,000[/STRIKE] loan - monthly payments of £450. Overpaying £850 a month.0 -
Thank you both
I think I will give myself more of a realistic budget and aim to move out by the end of june. It will still be frugal just not as close to the bone. Its still essentially eight months. Not to wish my life away but its nearly the end of this month. Lol
I have looked at new builds but I am limited by daughters school and I would like her to get into the secondary school thats nearby. I will need to drop her with my parents every morning at 7.30 too. So I will have to take that into account.
Spending wise the last few days haven't been so bad. Boyfriend filled up my car yesterday. :-) . I have food in the house. It is just next week that will be spendy.
Also my boyfriend bumped into a school head teacher ( of the one I Want dd to go to) he lives in the same village as my boyfriend. He knew my boyfriend had a Maths masters but didn't realise he was now teaching.
Anyway he has offered to give our names to any of his pupils who would like Maths or Science tuition as he says parents are always asking for tutors.
It would be extra money but I need to think about it in terms of child care and my own school work. I joined a swimming class a few months back ,my mam had a go at me for neglecting my daughter. ( can never win with her). If I do tutor she will moan,if I dont she will moan.
I just won't mention it yet. Lol0 -
Hi Rebecca,
Read your diary tonight. You are doing well, and paying off such a good amount, your debts will be clear in no time at all.
I live the south so know what you mean about house prices, I think our only way will be shared ownership, or perhaps finding a 1 bed that I can convert to a 2 bed.
I was going to suggest, in your calculations entering what you expect your tax credits to drop to, so that you are already living without them and it wont be such a shock when they go.
I am going to try this next month, not sure how far I will get but got to do something!
I rent privately, am trying to save to buy (not getting very far!) and have a daughter around the same age as yours, so I will subscribe to your diary and look forward to seeing more!

Hi bellevie.
Thank you for your lovely message. Good idea about the tax credits. I keep hoping it gets overturned, but no such luck.
I have subscribed to your diary too. It seems we have similar aims. My daughter was born in Reading and we lived there for a few years. Its so expensive, it really is harder. I remember when my daughter was born we were paying £1250 for a two bed flat near the station. It was nice but you could rent a mansion up here for that. We eventually moved to a village just outside and even that was 950 in rent.
Well its half term . Whoop. I have spent £20 yesterday in Asda on some wine and bits as we are puppy sitting so I will need to make some meals. I am really looking forward to it as its been ages since I have been able too.
Pay day seems a long time in coming. 7 more days.
In other news I am having some issues with my daughters Dad. He isn't being very pleasant and that aside he has run up £1500 on an overdraft on a joint account I hadn't yet cancelled. Do I ever learn? So stupid sometimes. I don't doubt he will keep paying the minium payment. He earns enough. I am just worried about my credit rating. He earns a lot but is in major debt. I wil speak to him today and see if we can sort something out.0 -
I know what you mean. I was so tempted when my employers offered the move to our northern office. I think its still something I may have to consider in the long run if prices continue the way they are heading.
We do have other offices that are not quite as high up as Yorkshire, so I may keep my eyes peeled for other possibilities.
Gosh, that is worrying re your ex. Can you contact the bank to at least freeze the account, or will they need both your agreement to do that?MFW

I think moving anywhere is a big decision especially with children in school. I moved before dd started primary. I did like Reading. I just missed the support of my family. I made some lovely mums friends though. I do moan about my mum but yes I would probably be lost without her.
Spoke to ex today. I am going to pay off his overdraft when I get paid on Friday and shut the account down. He agreed to then pay me a £100 a month on top of maintenance. It's not ideal and will put me back a bit but then at least I know its closed and I will not be panicking every month that he goes over the limit and gets a mark on my credit report . Then I can sever any financial link with him.
He has being paying 50 a month into it but 45 is taken in interest.
So I think I will be living on scraps this month as the overdraft is £1500.

Can you get an agreement written up? Just to protect you, or do you trust him to pay up?
I guess as he is paying it with maintenance it will be harder for him to avoid it.
What a blow to your payday thoughMFW

I do trust him to pay maybe not always on time but he has never not given me maintenance or paid for my daughters drama class. He prides himself on paying for his kids not so much spending time with them but he will pay.
Also this month I will be spending over £80 on broadband. Ridiculous! :-(
To cancel virgin there had to be 30 days notice so the £30 dd will come out this month. My Dad has gone with a Bt special offer which was advertised as £10 a month. However to do that they had to lose their call allowance so really its £16 ( hmmm BT) still half price on my virgin but then theres a £35 installation charge and a £6 postage for the router. So though it will be cheaper in the long run. Thats over an £80 near £90 spend on internet.
Atleast I will still be able to read diaries.:D0 -
Back home from puppy sitting. He was such a cutie but as my daughter said very pesky. Dd had a great time. It was nice for us to have some time together and be able to do our own thing. Her house was beautiful;down a private road. It was so peaceful.
I have spent about £30 on shopping this week. We went to the park every day, at least that was free.
Gearing up to pay of exes overdraft on Friday then to live on a wing and a prayer. Eek0 -
Good luck, it sounds like its going to be tough.
Have you left yourself enough for food, petrol, essentials?
If not could you pay say 3/4's of it this month and the remainder next month?MFW
