    I had a similar issue.

Switched to Coffee Mate for my coffee, which I kept in my locked drawer at work. Worked for tea too.

    Problem solved.

UHT milk would work similarly, doesn't need refrigeration, but I personally don't like the tang of it. Would use in an emergency though!

Laxative is a good idea. We used to have a cake theif at one place I worked at. One guy got really hacked-off and made a cake with chocolate laxative. He even iced the thing with the stuff.
Theif took the bait and with the trap set, the worker put 'Out of order' signs on all the toilet doors.

    No further thefts reported.

When I worked for companies where I had no free hot drinks, I drank cappuccino and lattes made from sachets. Kept a Tupperware box with a mixture of sachets locked in my drawer.

Other places I worked had a small number of colleagues, vending machines free vend or the Flavia machine

Or use a small bottle to decant enough milk to cover your drinks from your milk at home. Cheaper in the long run

I suppose you could put vodka in it and see who looks drunk on the job?

Or some UV clear spray on it, then carry a UV light around?

I think I'd go with labelling it breast milk, then add a drop of food colouring to make it look a slightly different colour.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Three times in the last four weeks someone has taken the milk, usually mid week when there's at least half a pint still left in it,

is there milk missing from the bottle or is the bottle missing?

So your workplace doesn't provide milk/coffee/tea for their workers? I can't believe what I am reading here.

Change jobs. Working for an employer that is too mean to fund something hot to drink for their employees - or a water cooler - is madness. OP, your employer is too greedy for words. How about putting in a grievance with your union?

If you've always worked for employers that provide free hot drinks then you should consider yourself very lucky. It isn't that common.

It's the whole bottle which has gone missing, although on other occasions, I've noticed some has gone out if it, but definately on the last 3 occasions it's been the whole bottle.

My employer does provide tea, coffee etc & milk, I just, choose to take my own as I like skimmed milk & my colleagues semi skimmed. The other option is that I add my choice to our milk order but that may not deter the thief.

    Some good suggestions, thank you

So just add your request to the milk order. Problem solved! There won't be a thief anymore because it won't belong to you.
