I regularly shop with Iceland now but get mostly fresh stuff, cereal plus loo rolls/bleach etc. Peas, vegetable fingers and a few Quorn bits are the only frozen stuff I tend to get! No Aldi or Lidl near me, so it works well.

I also really wish my local Iceland stocked frozen fruit.

Anyone who has become an Iceland convert needs to make sure they also use the great Bonus Card savings deal to save even more money.

The Bonus Card isn't a loyalty card that earns points - it is primarily a card that stores your home address if you want to do the free home delivery thing. It also produces random vouchers at the till based on previous shops.

However, it also works like a savings card - you can add credit to it at the till in Iceland and then spend it later. For every £25 you save, they add a bonus £1 "within 24 hours".

However, the bonus £1 is in practice added pretty much straight away (if you top up on line it takes a few minutes to be added). So, simply top the card up with £25 or £50 before you shop. By the time you come to pay, use your bonus card to pay and you've instantly saved a quid or two!

Also works online if you use the website, you need to link your bonus card to your home shopping account. You can use a credit card to top up your bonus card if that's how you'd normally be paying.

it's odd that Iceland doesnt get more praise to be honest, clear pricing, and good products.

Yes, the image of cheap badly made food. (some is, but you pick and choose.)

And it being the 'in place' for the chavs to shop.

Personally I shop anywhere the best prices and quality are.

  • I am a fan of Iceland, I like their bags of fish fillets, 3 for a tenner. Things like mackerel, salmon, smoked cod, swordfish etc etc.

My store has a lot of fresh veg priced at 50p. I got six tomatoes, a large head of broccoli, four red onions. All at 50p each.
Their wood fired pizzas are great and are £1.50.

Their ice cream range is brilliant. They do cones that look identical to cornettos for 89p for 6. Three magnum type lollies are a quid, as are those Solero type lollies.

If you haven't been there recently, go have a look. You might be surprised.

I had some of their jerk chicken the other day- quite nice. And I do love the Slimming World meals. :)

I haven't shopped in Iceland for years but reading some of the posts in this thread is encouraging me to take another look at their more recent lines. Unfortunately both freezers are full to bursting right now so may have to wait until next month.

I've only started visiting my local Iceland in the last couple of months. I find it is often cheaper for brands than major supermarkets.

    e.g. Aunt Bessie's Homestyle Roast Potatoes (1.5Kg) £3 @ Tesco £2 @ Iceland

The new iceland adverts are definitely a lot better than the old ones!

I agree. Emphasis on the products not the celeb.
