I've never really used Iceland before, however one of their food warehouses opened by me earlier in the year and it's rapidly become my shop of choice. It's next to Aldi and Home Bargains and I have hardly a need to go anywhere else.

I caught the manager of Iceland in Aldi a couple of weeks ago making a note of their fresh veg prices so he could compete. We got to chatting and I was telling him I was a new convert lol. I complained because I had bought a fry light from there the week before for £2 then went into Home Bargains and it was £1.49. He said he would raise it with head office and match the price. Very nice chap.

I like their frozen chicken pieces, slimming world meals, Indian curries, Aunt Bessies frozen chips, Greggs, duck in orange sauce, fresh stewing beef pieces and bacon.

Slightly off topic, but is anyone else having problems viewing the Iceland website? The homepage loads properly, but whenever I click on other links it just says Forbidden etc. Is it just a problem with my browser?

Must make a point of trying more of Iceland's stuff.

I pop in occasionally to get some of their Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls from their Chinese range. Absolutely scrummy! The S&S sauce that comes with it is flippin' gorgeous.

My DH loves those, must get him some as a treat. It salves my conscience when I go out to eat with friends leaving him a ready meal he'll enjoy.;)

Thanks for the thread Edwardia. I'll give that hake a go too. Fish is so expensive these days it's become more of a treat than steak!

What do you put in a meatball to make it not gluten-free?

I'm going to Tesco tomorrow so I'll have a look, thanks. Pretty sure I haven't seen this in my local Sainsbury's.

I like the fact that Iceland prices use whole £ not 3.98 etc.

Try looking at the Iceland page next time you log onto Mysupermarket.
If you're viewing the Tesco page you'll see the name of the store you're shopping at near the top on the left hand side, click that and it will bring a drop down menu for all the other shops.

Does anyone know if Icelands meat is halal or clearly labelled as being so? I've tweeted them twice but no reply.
