I do hope so, if thats the case it may not cost me to remove the flippin stuff! Theres no point in me using lime mortar on the internal walls if the external walls are painted in modern materials. I'm trying to do a sympathetic restoration.0 -
Do you have legal cover with your insurance, Paul? If so I would ask them to take it up.
It is not for anyone to paint your wall, even if it apparantly forms the boundary line. It does not. A boundary line has no width, not even the width of a coat of paint! There is no way that you should incur any cost in getting it removed. They have put you in a right predicament there. How you get it off without affecting the brickwork I don't knowEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Expat in Australia, but heading back to the UK when the dust settles.0 -
I like the idea of playing some "boom boom music" out the window. Even better than that would be a reallllly annoying televangelist going on and on about the evils of drink.:beer:0

Paul (the OP):
Can you get some photos taken and uploaded so we can take a look? A picture is worth a thousand words."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -

Hi Mike,
I'm not sure if the my property is listed or not tbh. When it was bought it wasnt but we cancelled the address so it was included with my mothers property which it was originally attached too, effectively now an extension. My mothers property is grade II listed.
I will see what I can do about photos, will maybe take some next time I go in there for a pint
I am meant to be getting a call off one of their Business Relationship Managers this morning but nothing as yet, it'll be interesting to see what he has to say. I sent them an email yesterday outlining the main problems.
The house insurance people are sending out a form thanks Doozergirl
Thanks

If it has reduced the value of your house, you may also want to contact the Valuation Office regarding your council tax band.
If you were in the bottom of your band previously and this has affected the value you may be entitled to a rebanding on the grounds of a material reduction in your value. If you look on the Valuation Tribunal Service website and previous cases there are examples of people who have won tribunals on similar grounds. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

If the passage has a covering and a wall on either side (as passages do!), it's a no-smoking area like the rest of the pub, even without the gate at the end.
Have a word with the district council, I imagine they will have people monitoring these abuses of the no-smoking laws, what Punch have set up is totally illegal.
In the meantime, ask the landlord to put up a no-smoking sign. (Or put one of your own up!)0 -
