Good for you Azzzaa. I really admire what you are doing. I think at the heart of why I'm feeling a bit discontented is that I want to live more like you are at the moment and the whole Sky thing feels really out of sync with that. I need the Broadband (for work if nothing else) but the TV was a want! But literally just through writing this I've realised its a want for my son & in fairness he is generally pretty low-maintenance. It's really helped to write this down actually - I feel like I've disentangled my feelings about it... feel a lot better now - not so discontent. THANK YOU :). Wow this thread is like free therapy :rotfl:

Thank you for your kind words :) I'm glad it's helped you!! I've found that when i think about things like not having tv it seems like it would be the end of the world but when you don't have one in front of you, you quickly find alternatives and after a little while you don't even think about watching TV. Pus you then have loads of time extra to do more constructive things! not having the play station is a great example,. I could have spent all day today playing it and probably buying downloads etc, instead i've been on Swagbucks earning and selling on Facebook!!

As a very small money saving technique i cut down my sugar intake in tea and coffee so when i live by myself in theory I would be spending only half of what i would be if i were having two sugars in my tea and coffee, i've been doing that for roughly a month now and honestly, i can't even stand the thought of having two sugars in my tea. My next challenge is to cut out coke and fizzy drinks and replace it with water!!

I've renegotiated my Sky contract - phone, broadband & TV - a saving of £16.00 pm plus a brand new Sky Box & service. Not exactly punching the air on this one as I still feel I'm paying Sky a lot of money a month. I'm definitely going to diary in end of contract on this one and think seriously about my needs (as opposed to wants) .
    That's still nearly £200 saved a year though :T

We have just a TV with built-in free-to-air freeview so zero cost - you can't watch it all !!

Landline - basic, no calls out, pay yearly = 14.95 monthly

Broadband with WIFI unit - basic, pay monthly direct debit, but get email to pay within 24 hours and save 10% = £3.15 monthly.

    Mobile - Contract for £11.50+vat = £13.80 monthly, unlimited texts/100mins/1GB

So total costs for TV/broadband/mobile = 31.90 month/382.80 yearly and get a tiny bit of c/b as pay direct debit with Santy bank :D
