Hola Beauty Queens
Well, after a fraught few days, DH is lying beside me snoring like a pig :rotfl: We had a panic yesterday morning, he was fine when I arrived with DS2 but within an hour was aching, sweating and his pulse was 130bpm  I was so scared that it was sepsis setting in (never one to look on the bright side of life, me) but it turns out it was just a run-of-the-mill infection(!). 24 hours of IV ABx, another consultant visit, a panic about an incorrectly dressed wound (the nursing staff weren't exactly up to scratch, to put it mildly) and he was finally discharged about 9pm. We have to be super vigilant for the next 48 hours for any signs of the infection taking hold again but he is home and I am so relieved, I've barely slept and it certainly shows in my eye bags :rotfl:
I won't guff on again but suffice it to say, I am so touched that so many of you took the time to put finger to keyboard and send us posivibesI'm sure that without your cheerleading on the sidelines, he'd still be holed up in hospital. You all deserve a  and a slice of cake

Really pleased that all went well Fizz. Hope your DH has a speedy recovery. Nice of them to bring you a bit of the stone to see :rotfl:
Glad you got on well with the Loreal matte foundation. I like that one too although the shade I have is a bit too dark for me at the moment. I am also glad to hear that I am not the only one who finds foundation curdles on them!! Thought it was just me!! I found this happened with Nars Sheer Glow on my skin.
The stone was so minging, I won't even attempt to describe it here for fear of making you all sick a bit in your collective mouths _pale_ :rotfl:
I had a sample of Nars SG and it split like a beast on me too. The more foundations I try, the mores I realise that anything which is purported to be "glowy", "illuminating" or any of that jazz just doesn't work for me. That's no big deal as I actually prefer a matte base, that way I can choose where to highlight, rather than nature making the choice for meOn a separate point, I wonder whether you use your fingers a sponge or a brush for foundation? I have been using a sponge for a while and I'm unsure whether brush would be better. Sponge i think needs replacing now and I have a Real Techniques foundation brush.
I'll be typically unhelpful and say, it depends on the foundationI always used to use my fingers but now it's either the RT Buffing Brush (for thicker foundations), the RT Contour Brush (for their thinner sisters) or a Beauty Blender for anything and everything. I'm not a big fan of flat foundation brushes at all, I find they leave a very streaky finish and take off as much product as they apply, so you end up chasing your base around your face. But as always, YMMV
I'm glad the Infallible Matte foundation worked for you! :rotfl: I have no idea why my skin can't get on with it...
Does anyone have any good strategies for working out what to keep and what to bin, makeup wise? I seem to only be able to part with a small amount of items at a time...
What your skin texture like? I'm dry but as long as I moisturise well and slap the foundation on STRAIGHT AWAY it's lovely
Well done on fighting the purchasing urge :j:T:j I know I get the spend-hunger when I'm tired, have a migraine, I'm hormonal and most of all, a combination of all three :rotfl: We have a BIG Boots about a mile down the road (ample free parking to boot) and I have been known to wander round for an hour, picking up things I don't need but I often baulk at the length of the checkout queue :rotfl: Whatever works for you, eh?!
On the declutter front, I subscribe to a YTer Jessica Murphy (JAMbeauty89) who has an excellent playlist of videos where she goes through her collection and sorts the wheat from the chaff. Her techniques make so much sense to me and I often finish watching her and want to chuck out a bunch of stuff :eek:0 -
I have another little uu
Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream 30ml - WBA.
FizzWhizz - good to hear your DH is home, I bet he has you running about all over playing nurse :rotfl:Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Am catching up on thread and wanted to pass on my well wishes to FizzWhizz's DH before I got started on the marathon posting I usually do! Hope his recovery is swift and that you Fizz get a chance to look after yourself too. Xx
PS I have switched back to old style forum to multi quote.city_girl_258 wrote: »The same is true of the little bottle they gave away in the recent L'occitane freebie!
I've finished it off tonight but wasn't convinced the bottle was entirely empty...annoying when it's expensive stuff.
That's one of my UU - WNBA - liked the smell but wouldn't go out my way to repurchase.
You can cut these bottles open to get every bit out. Stab it first with sharp pair of scissors and cut around.
My second TSV Auto delivery has arrived and has a full size of this in it. Whilst it's not my favourite there's no point in returning it as I bought the kits specifically to keep us stocked up with liquid soap. I did however last week return an Auto delivery of LG Spackle as I have a full one already in my stash. Yay me.mrs-moneypenny wrote: »Morning all
Just been through my lips drawer and have made the decision to TA 10 of them. They are all part used and some have that plasticine smell. They are colours I won't wear again and there are 27 keepers to choose from so I won't go short
7 bottles of nail polish I won't use are also on the GA shelf, I'll offer them to a work friend and if not they'll go to the school summer fete.
I've decided to do this with my mini bottles of lacquer as they "feel empty. I TA both Sephora for OPI Sample Sale and Ms Can't be wrong last week cos they were applying patchily. Will pull out a mini each week and if they apply like this will TA.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I've had a bumpy couple of days. I really wanted to buy something. I'd love to know why the feeling was triggered. It was so powerful. I was well aware of the fact that I didn't need anything but the urge to buy something new was really insistent. I didn't cave! :j Had I been out and about it might have been another story. I just find it weird that even when I'm doing well and am happy to be using things up that that feeling can come out of nowhere.
I had this on Thursday but sadly succumbed. Last weekend Emma went shopping with a friend who bought herself the Maybelline pallette and got a mascara free on the 2 for £10 deal. Thought no more about this until Thursday when nursing a hangover after seeing Foo Fighters on Wednesday night I wande into town to Greggs for something stodgy. Had to pass Superdrug on the way and found myself wondering about those palettes. Went in and they had none. An SA asked if I want help so I told her I was looking for them. She suggested I order online and well you know the power of suggestion. I ended up ordering two (one for me,one for Emma). Naughty step here I come. I suppose they're good at a fiver each, yes?shandyclover wrote: »
I have just finished a shower and counted 13 assorted bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. I live with 2, sometimes 3 teen girls. For some reason they all believe when the bottle gets down to the last inch, the shampoo/conditioner/bodywash stops working!
Yes they do. I often have to cut open Emma's products. It's great now that she has a part time job cos I tell her she has to replace the unfinished ones herself. She soon UUs them up.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. TA
Centre' Thermal Masque a eau hand me down from a french friend when she left to go back to France. Only used once, was nice but then it split and went a bit dodgy looking.
UU
Timeblock antiaging mask with Indol3 Really like this and WBA if I came across it, it seemed to smooth out my skin and leave it lovely and fresh. However I picked it up from a poundshop and it's an American product so I am not sure I will be seeing this again. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Hi everyone, just a quick post for now. After being on hols in Scotland and Lancs for 22 days I have just caught up on the last 11 pages!
Fizz - fingers crossed that your OH will now be on the mend.
Great to see lots of new faces and some returning ones too.
KT - thanks for missing me.
Still ploughing through all the washing and weeding the garden, will try and get my lists up to date soon, have a few things to declare, but not many UU's to add I think. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi maddiemay! Lovely to see you back. I hope that you enjoyed your hols
I have my last UUs for the month
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (30ml) - WMBA. Was lovely to use after a long break. Think I'd prefer the different scents though.
Rituals Mei Dao Rich Nourishing Body Cream (70ml) - WBA. Love this and will be so happy to get a fullsize on my birthday
Activbod Cooling Finish Lotion (20ml) - WMBA to use on my neck when I have a headache.
Caudalie Vinexpert Broad Spectrum Radiance Day Cream SPF15 (3ml) - had to use this dry skin version up on my neck. Love the combo skin version.
L'Occitane Shampoo (75ml) - I have a 500ml bottle of this to work through. Was my HG but not so sure now...:o
Ole Henrickson Sheer Transformation (15ml) - WNBA as it broke me out on two separate occasions. Used up on my neck.
Clinique Blush Wear in 03 Rosy Blush - hurrah! This is ancient and I UU every last scrap. WNBA but only because I have so many more blushers to UU.
Cosmetics A La Carte Brow Ink in Taupe - 4 before the 4th item. WNBA as I prefer powder. I have another one to UU (both came in beauty boxes). Very impressed that it didn't dry up quickly though.
Miller Harris Figue Amere (sample) - WMBA. Beautiful scent that turns powdery and comforting. Unusual too.
Miller Harris Geranium Bourbon (sample) - WMBA. This is my favourite of the ten Miller Harris samples I have. Slightly sweeter than Figue Amere.
Phew!
This has been my best month ever for UUs. I got rid of approx 80 itemsSome were TAs but I've counted the 12 lippies as one TA so the real number is higher. Lots of travel sized things that I'm happy to have used and enjoyed. I doubt that next month will be as good but I will try! :rotfl: I'm going to photograph my collected empties later and then really enjoy binning the whole lot

Getting closer on a few products, still going strong more or less!
Went on hols this past week so managed to use up the Cabana sun protection spray (smells divine), and the other half has almost finished the Nivea SPF20 suncream.
I prefer something a bit stronger for myself so I picked up P20 SPF20 before we left, and didn't burn at all - score! It doesn't last too long - I've only a little left and other half resorted to using some of mine the last two days to avoid burning. So I've got a little left for next time, but not much, so will have to pick up another bottle before I go on another holiday.
I did pick up other things for the holiday too thoughSo I'm now in possession of Sun Swim Gym 3-in-1, the individual shampoo, and the leave-in conditioner again. I just find this set so much easier to use on holidays than faffing with separate shampoos, conditioners, and hair products.

Have toted up my totals for May and it's not that great even though I got through the PP list.
24 INs ! In fairness I got a lot of minis from L'Occitane as fre gifts and this also included items given to me by Emma.
25 OUTs.
Will sort out another PP list shortly.
On a sadder note we had to put one of our bunnies (Sophie) to sleep yesterday. I found her yesterday stumbling and shaking. Our vet suspected that she had a huge tumour. Was awful having to make that decision however the vet said she didn't think she would either withstand surgery or survive another day. Apparently rabbits can hide illness. Seems so unfair that we weren't able to do anything for her as we weren't aware that she was ill. Feel so sorry for our other bunny Smudge who looks totally lost without her.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
