why are used trailers so expensive?

trailer tyres seem worse though, as they'll usually sit for months unmoved and no doubt at incorrect pressures since most people only actually use them over the summer.
Re. weights; an Erde 122 (400kg) will be at it's weight capacity when it's about 1/2 to 2/3rds full of soil depending on how wet it is.
Incidentally, you should easily be able to get one of them for £150-200, I'm sticking mine on gumtree this weekend for £200 (I'm far too far away for you though).0 -

For that sort of size they're going to be used for light loads (most likely on low powered cars). The problem with them is that they're quite beefy and heavy and take up too much valuable weight that could be use for the goods.
The aluminium ones tend to be quite expensive.
haven't look at the weight restrictions, but I won't be carrying anything too heavy or big. Max load on the trailers I'm looking at is 400kgish so I would have thought it would be well within the safe limits. Small box trailers are allowed on my license - I just presumed my license will allow the carriage of the load because it's so small.
Basically doing some landscaping - digging out layers of sandy soil and dropping it off council tip and collecting bags of good soil from various people on gumtree.
It will be short trips, so I can just do the job on smaller load multi trips if need be so not too concered about max load limits for now.
Why not add something to improve the existing soil rather than going to all that effort?0 -

the soil is really poor quality. basically the housebuilders who built the house 40 or so years ago just dumped their waste building material into the garden scattered some topsoil over it to cover up their dump. It's full of building stones, sand, rock about 20cm deep. Some of the stone is on the surface.
Also there is probably asbestos in it since it's building waste. Just going to mask up and take out 30cm deep soil off.0 -

I cover all my tyres in black bags when I store them in the garden.0 -

How big an area? a 1x3m section of it will weigh approx 1.5-2 tonnes (more if wet). That's 5-7 x runs in a 400kg trailer (assuming a payload of about 300kg).0 -

Don't you think you should find out before digging it up and transporting it?0 -

Well, without measuring it I'll know it's heavy after I fill enough bags of it and walk with it through the house to load it onto the trailer. The council skip is just 2 miles away from me so I can do as many trips as I need to.0 -

Are you for real?
You suspect there is asbestos in the soil, so you'll carry it through the house. Chuck it in a trailer and drive it to the tip and dump it on the council and contaminate your local recycling centre.0
