    I'm reminded of this:

And of course the Reservoir Dogs scene too, but there's naughty words in that one.

    I've been Money Tipped!

Yes I do tip the hairdresser.

Them and wait staff are the only people I do. Even in the UK lots of waitresses/waiters are paid a pittance and do an awful lot of hands on work. I don't agree with the American culture but I would always tip unless the service and food were bad.

I don't tip my hairstylist (she is the owner of the business) during the year but give her a cash gift in a Christmas card - probaby £40.

    £40!

I don't spend that much at Christmas on close family members.

But this could be said for a lot of jobs and people in them. I don't think anyone deserves a tip more than anyone else.

More over, the waiters and waitresses in the UK, that you claim are earning a 'pittance,' are on minimum pay like millions of other people.

And if they are not, then they are probably being paid cash-in-hand, and not paying tax.

IMO, we should tip no-one. Or tip everyone.

As someone said earlier: I cannot figure out why some people think that some people serving you deserve to get tips, and some don't.

She is really good! and she always fits my appointments in, sometimes opening earlier especially etc. And it only works out about 6% over a year.

I wouldn't tip anyone if the service was poor (including when I went to New York and didn't tip in a couple of places) but I really appreciate my hairstylist.

I also usually tip my local taxi drivers, as when they are really busy and I want to get home in the early hours they will tend to fit me in sooner rather than leave me waiting for ages.

I worked in retail for many years and was paid a pittance for the hours worked, but never expected (or received) any tips, so why do waiting staff expect them I wonder?

    I rest my case. :T

Like I said, many people, in many jobs, have low pay and work like a dog, but don't expect - or receive - tips.

I always tip the hairdresser, one we for trim its £13 for 3 of us - even thou there be 2 hairdressers doing the walk ins - who ever cuts the 1st of our hair then we let others in q go first for 2nd hairdresser - I usually add £3 for trim off 3 of us, even when the owner of the salon has cut our hair we tip her as well.

If it's a different hairdressers - then pay £10 each so put £3 off the two of us.

    ---
Taxi drivers I tip as well, just been in Blackpool and used a few cabs and the average fare was £4 and £6 - generally £4 fare said make it up to £5, around £6 add £2 onto it.
abroad - always tip taxis - quite weird when 40p seems a be tip x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Most of the time I tip my hairdresser,

I normally see a former work friend who is a mobile hairdresser but has a little area at her home to do people so I go round to hers. Its normally a big trip as I'll go have waxing, hair colour, cut and my nails done but she is really cheap the last visit it had came up at £58 for 3 areas of waxing, gelish nails 2 colours and some highlights and a cut so I paid £65 via bank transfer as It doesn't then cost her anything. Thats less than I would pay in a salon for a cut and colour!! due to my hair length.

She even text me after seeing her bank account to say I had over paid and for my details to transfer it back!!!

If I'm at a salon its normally a trainee or apprentice who does my hair and they are paid very little so I'll normally leave £2 so they can get a drink. if its a stylist etc then I don't as its cost me enough money to see them!!! :D
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada

Made me laugh this. I used to tip mine when I went to her salon. She`s the owner. Now she comes every 6 weeks to our house and colours mine, chops me husbands. So every year she buys a ticket and we go to our place in Spain for our birthdays in November. She`s become one of my best friends. I was so shy and used to give her £2 tip. She says not everybody tips and she doesn't mind.

I tip mine, but for the first time last month, I had no cash. Typical, I had a new hairdresser (as previous one went on maternity early) who did my hair best ever, so really wanted to show my appreciation. I didn't want to apologise about not being able to tip her either as that sounded even worse. She now must think I'm really tight. Hope she doesn't make me pay for my lack of appreciation next time, she is a gem :)
