Morning, we're soggy here today too

9 hours sleep, I'm feeling quite energetic!

    Tasks for today:

    - Washing on at my Mum's (it didn't get done yesterday whoops)
    - Mr Shirtie is feeding the chooks and hopefully will have time to finish netting the roof to stop them hopping on stuff and escaping
    - I'm going to have egg on toast for breakfast courtesy of my girlies
    - Lunch at my Mum and Dads

    I have so far...

    - Popped the foodie emergency bits for work in my bag
    - Put aside the bits I bought yesterday for the holiday next week (things like microwave popcorn, super concentrated squash, travel colouring kits, etc)
    - Put the last of the catering pack of tea bags into the house tea tin, some in a tuppawear for work and loads in a tuppawear for next weekend (there are loads of families that meet and we're hosting the tea/coffee morning this year. That's saved me on buying tea in work at 80p a pop, and buying in expensive tea bags for next weekend

Have a good day all xx

    Morning DFW-Ninjas,

Well, life goes on, and the debt goes down!

Today, I'm mainly going to be resting but I will try to do a few things:

Yesterday we did a little bit of local, luxury food shopping, with the focus on buying a little of really high quality rather than a lot of rubbish. Went to a fishmonger and bought just a couple of scallops and some local Arran cheese with chives. A few years ago we'd have bought half the shop!

Also repaired a fault with my laptop though OH's desktop remains stubbornly stuck in hibernate mode.

    The List:

    :starmod:
List some story cassettes on eBay for OH. (I hate that job! :() Done.

    :starmod: No spend day, probably.

:starmod: Meals from stores and meal plan with the emphasis on not demolishing everything available in the kitchen. Our new Sunday morning "treat" breakfast has gone from being a full-size grill-up to a small bowl of fruit and yoghurt and a half-size grill-up.

:starmod: Clean the kitchen with Stardrops and washable cloths. And, boy, goes it need it!

:starmod: Try to repair kitchen floor tiles. They came with the house and we don't want to pay to replace them but some of them have 'drifted' and we have gaps between them.

That's all for now. Good luck on your quests, Ninjas.

Morning all, another planning a lazy stay-at-home day here today :)

Ally's tiles mention has reminded me though that I managed to fix the cracked stained glass in the front door with some sticky-back plastic from the local hardware shop for the grand sum of 85p! I'm sure it would have cost at least a fiver from one of the big DIY places so another good reason to use small, local shops. I've cut it to shape and stuck 2 layers on either side to hold the glass in place.

Today I need to do an online shop but I plan to stretch one ready meal to feed two of us by serving it with oven chips for lunch and I've taken everything we need out of the freezer to defrost for a roast dinner tonight.

DH is going to see his parents today and is happy for me not to go, I feel like I should and he'd rather I did but it's going to be boring (FIL having troubles with his computer) and I promised myself after my last falling out with FIL I wouldn't spend any more time in his company than I have to.

Today might finally be the day I get around to uploading some stuff on ebay which will remind me (again) of how much effort you have to put in to earn £20 or so and how easy it is to spend £20 on one takeaway. It really is easier to not spend money in the first place than to try to make some more to replace it.

I brought a pile of magazines home from my mum's last night as I plan on writing letters/sending in tips to a few of them. I've been entering comps recently with no success and know how few people actually write in to letters pages and how many pages go through with a hole waiting for another to arrive so I reckon my chances of winning star prize are higher than entering comps.

I washed my car yesterday and noticed that the zip in the soft top is coming away in quite a bad way. I'm gutted, I really need to find a way to fix it so water doesn't come in. There's no way I plan on buying a new car, this one is about 10 years old now (I've had it from new) and it has a few scrapes and dinks from living on a narrow cut-through road but mechanically it's sound and I've always planned to keep it until it doesn't go any more. I'm pretty sure a new soft top would cost more than the car is worth if I have to go down that road. I don't care what it looks like as long as water can't get in so I might even consider stitching it if I can find a heavy-duty needle and some twine to go through it, I need to give it some more thought.

Have a good day all! :)

Stitch it with thin fishing twine which you can get for about £1 a reel. Then spray it with a waterproofing spray like Fabsil Proofer Spray. (Link) You can buy Fabsil in camping shops or online for about £8, and maybe from Tesco...and if you don't use the whole can you can use it on many waterproof jackets, bags and shoes.

Hannah - thank you yes I do that one too. As you say that's 75 points per quarter towards our day out total.

Determined - have a great trip. You deserve some time to yourself.

Have just done a shop for the week. Had to replace a lot of staple items like flour, sugar etc. Used a triple nectar voucher so that has boosted me into another reward (will add to womble total shortly) Found 1p on my way there and 20p inside the supermarket on the floor.
Going to use some of the chicken stock I made last weekend in a bit to do a fresh chicken noodle soup (using up old frozen bits of leftover spaghetti) & I will eat up the last portion of my last batch, just needs a little more stock mixed in.

Shortie - meant to welcome you to the thread yesterday. As you say MFW is essentially just clearing a huge debt but hopefully we can all inspire each other on the tips front.

La E - is that no good then? Can you spend it? I just got 0.95€ per share for some AXA shares I hold from an old job not sure what the translation rate is at the moment.

Fishing twine, yes, that would be perfect, thanks Ally!

    Afternoon all :)
    Busy thread this weekend :)

    So far today:
Been to a car boot and bought a few bits for my sales unit. This is a business cost, so I have noted these down in my accounts :)
Also bought a few things off my list in Wilkos as I was passing - rest of shopping list (apart from some milk which I will get from the corner shop later) can wait another day or two :)
Leftover leek and potato soup for lunch
Got some bananas out of the freezer to make more of Polly's lovely flapjacks later
Game pie filling in the slow cooker for later

    Still to do:
Make up game pie when meat filling is cooked. It is chilly here today, so it will go down well, and help in my never ending quest to use things up from the freezer (also some mushrooms from the fridge that needed using) Done, also made an apple pie using some wrinkly apples from the fruit bowl :)
Sort out some veg from the fridge to go with it, there is a big leek, some carrots and a few new potatoes, that will do :)Done
Make some of Polly's flapjacks and cook in the oven at the same time Done
Pick some more rhubarb from the garden Done, and cooked in oven while it was on
Sort out a small item of furniture to take in to sales unit tomorrow morning, as the one that was in there has sold (I only have room for one at a time). Price up some small items that I have already retrieved from the loft. I found some pretty vivid pink and green Victorian / Edwardian glass items, which I will have fun arranging :)Got a nice chair out of the loft
Pop across to the local shop for some milk Sent OH :D

No watering today,as it rained quite a bit last night

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend :)

Fat Von D I just thought....if you need to join two pieces of fishing line together use a surgeon's knot. (Link)
