  • This is a great thread. I've just posted a debt free diary to keep my accountable and motivated and this thread looks like a great way to chip away some of the mess I've made.

Is it OK to make small payments online to ALL credit cards? Do any friends upon it or charge penalties? Hoping not but wanted to ask before I get cracking!
Current credit card debt - £3600
    Other debt - £350

There is more to as but this is all I can face right now and all improvement is good x

Hello :hello: nice to welcome another newbie x

As far as I know (please correct me peeps, if I'm wrong) none of credit card companies mind little and often payments, although some have rules about only taking the minimum amount due unless otherwise instructed, which can be annoying if you're wanting to overpay on an irregular basis. Certainly, I've never been charged for doing this. Overpayments on loans are different though - some have limits or penalties, so check first. I have a set amount which is paid on my chosen date, then I send extra payments of whatever I can afford throughout the month.

Sunshine is running the thread this month and she will add your contributions to the daily total, so welcome to the PADding team :D

Morning peeps...I think Laurra has joined the early bird gang! Talking of early birds, has anyone seen LMD recently? No PADs for a few days, which is unusual?

My contribution is £48.59 today. I have no "round number OCD" to battle (Bob). Odd is good :D

I'm an extremely early bird so definitely need to join this club! My 6 year old ASD son thinks it's fun to wake up at the crack of dawn! :rotfl:

Just popping by to say hello and welcome to newbies. I've not got a PAD to post at present as just getting back online after having no power since Saturday night apart from a short period yesterday - yep I'm in Lancaster, which has been quite an experience this weekend as even gas boiler central heating needs electric and all my cooking facilities are electric, but at least it wasn't cold for the time of year so not too bad, and we had good neighbours who gave us flasks of hot water so we could have a brew. Couldn't get into work yesterday as I commute to Preston. However, all good in the scheme of things as we didn't get flooded ourselves and no damage done, just weird to have no internet or mobile phones working. Thank God for battery operated radio and local station keeping us informed. I really feel for those in Cumbria and Dizzy on here who have been flooded as it is terrible to see some of the pictures of people's houses.
    Anyway, hopefully back PADding tomorrow

Awe I had completely forgotton you were in the west jet

Huge hugs and prayers for you icare.gif

    and huge welcome newbies

Yes I too am debt free :). and it was a long and bumpy road but I never gave up - even after £900 whoopsies!!!

this link is really useful in debt busting and deciding what debt to pay first - http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx

Relatively straightforward to use though I think you might have to save final page (with all your calculations)

Remember folks - emergency fund - to save getting into debt when your washing machine for example dies :)

So if you are working on your emergency fund before tackling debts not a prob

In fact whatever you are working on - or even still under the duvet post whoopsie - welcome

    Morning all!

My PAD for today is £4.01 to MBNA please.

Welcome Newbies :) I second that Erme, I absolutely love the whatsthecost snowball - I have it saved and add each PAD to it and watch it recalculate how long it will take me to pay off my debt. I think I'd go so far as to say I'm obsessed!
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭
