Thought as i am new to the world of comping I must be doing something wrong!!!0

There's been lots of comping publicity of late, claims of winning enough to live off, new FB groups, people advertising the hobby for their own personal gain ie monetising their websites etc...in turn luring newbies and therefore more people entering lowing the odds to win.
Hopefully a lot will realise you don't win 50k of prizes in a month and the time vs reward is very little so will slowly give up...
I've nothing against newbies, we all started somewhere but why you'd openly advertise the hobby creating more competition for yourself beats me...0 -

this topic subject is recycled more than paper
My view is that if you don't like the topic, don't follow the thread. I've been doing competitions since 1987 with some big wins, some tiny wins and LONG periods (3 years at one point) where I won absolutely NOTHING. You get very demoralised, expecting day after day to get a letter or email with CONGRATULATIONS! You have won.... and it never arrives. Threads like this comfort in that you realise that everyone is dependent on luck (to a greater or lesser extent - more entries, more wins, skill contests give a better chance IF you are good at it etc) and the fact that winners of trips round the world may not get even a BBQ apron for the next 6 months encourage you to keep going. And that is all you need to do, keep going, live in hope, and appreciate anything that falls into your life as a surprise bonus. Much more fun that way than expecting you are due a reward for putting in all that hard work, cos that just does not happen; no guarantee of a win however many competitions you enter. Remember, there are Lies, d**mned Lies and Statistics.0 -

Jeez I didn't expect people to be so angry!, Well I won a kitchen appliance maintenance kit (whatever that is!) I thought I had won a kitchen appliance. Then a boost usb stick yesterday so i am happy, at least a couple of wins spurs me on for the biggie round the corner. When i started this thread I thought people would say if they thought it is harder to win or not which most of you have. I am a nice person and like nice friendly people if you want to be rude please dont post, I only surround myself with happy people as sitting behind a computer getting angry, rude and negative is not what life is about!!
To the new compers I am sure your first win is arround the corner, you will feel fantastic when it happens and good luck lovely people!!:j:D:j

i was a nice person once - still am really under a new hat
same old topics though, bunch of newbies jumping on to say theyve won sod all after 3 weeks of click to wins and wondering where they are going wrong - give it a month and the same thing will rear itself again
oh for a koala, fanimal or capital one ball - won't see the bleating about no wins thenSpeak your mind.- Nobody else will do it for you.0 -

To the newbies this is a new topic, you shouldnt be bringing them down with your negativity. You sound bitter and unhappy, please dont try bringing the rest of us down.
Keep on comping others and newbies tell us all about your 1st fantastic win!!!:D:D:D:D

Thanks to all the positive people posting. Not all of us are newbies, some are just re entering the world of comps, however, doesn't matter if we are, no need for negativity when people are only asking for advice.0
