On closer inspection it is now clear to me that the new skin is bugged. The circle to the left of the thread titles in forum view is clearly supposed to be the 'Go to first new post' button, but the forum team have messed up the hyperlinking. The alt text is 'New posts', but the hyperlink is in the format: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=XX#threadXXXXXX, which is nonsensical.
It should be in the format: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=XXXXXX0 -

OMG the new look is, not to put too fine a point on it, a F***ing mess! Its obviously been designed by clowns, with acres of wasted white space, vile colours, and obtrusive banners slapped in your face on each page!!
The relief after logging in and going back to the original site is amazing. The disgraceful thing is that someone somewhere was actually paid to come up with that vandalism.0 -
As a matter of course i visit many sites to view topics and log in only when necessary. To avoid the worst layout I have ever encountered I must now log in. If MSE fully ditch the familiar, compact and easy to follow layout then I for one will ditch MSE. No big loss I may hear some posters say but how many others may follow suit?.0

Sometimes I get the older version and sometimes the newer one but don't know why this happens. Still prefer the original one.0

I'm sure like a lot of others I participated in the review of the new site a while ago and whilst the new look seems 'cleaner' (best word I can think of) everything is lost in a sea of whiteness and it isn't as obvious / intuitive as to display 'relationships. Because of this I find it more difficult to link what I'm reading / wanting to do next. Perhaps its a 'newness' thing but I doubt it.
The main BBC News website went down a similar path a while ago and I pretty much gave the same feedback there.
EDIT: Another annoying thing I find on the new website is that frequently I can't login from the main page and tyet if I go in to a thread and try to post, it then forces me to login which seems to work ok.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

I stumbled upon Resolver when I wanted to complain about the Cheap Energy Club0 -

New look is ugly. I'm not against change normally, but in this case keep it unchanged!0
