I believe that the government is changing the rules - so that only those with Motorbility Vehicles are going to be issued with Blue Badges in future ....

They are already changing the rules - to only issue Blue Badges to those on Enhanced Mobility PIP - and was wondering whether they will recall Blue Badges from those previously entitled to them ?

What does the forum think of these changes ?
For a start, that's nonsense. Under PIP, if you get 8 points for mobility component then you qualify for a blue badge. People who still have higher rate mobility on DLA still quaiify.

Surely it would be illegal on competition grounds, as you'd effectively be restricted to just one supplier? Apart from everything else wrong with this bit of windup...
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Sorry - I was trying to say that - At the moment, the rules do not only restrict Blue Badges to those on High Rate Mobility DLA (You can get one on other basis) - whereas they have stated that in future to obtain a Blue Badge, you will need to be claiming HR PiP...

Standard Rate PIP mobility is at least 8 points. So that would be enough to get a blue badge. Where is the link to say in future it will be higher rate pip?

the 8 points have to come from the 'moving aroubnd' section and not the 'planning and following' part.
so it has to be a specific standard award to obtain a blue badge and not purely a PIP mobility awarrd

Still waiting for a link as most of the stuff 50T comes out with is nonsesne.

    But in the meantime

    To get a BB:

you are registered as blind/severely sight impaired
you receive the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
you receive the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and you scored at least 8 points in relation to the ‘moving around’ activity in the PIP assessment, or least 12 points in the mobility activity for planning and following journeys
you have been awarded a lump sum benefit from the Armed Forces Compensation scheme (tariffs 1 to 8). You have also been certified as having a permanent and substantial disability which means you can’t walk or find walking very difficult
you have been awarded a lump sum benefit from the Armed Forces Compensation scheme at tariff level 6 for a mental disorder
you receive a government grant towards your own vehicle.

Outside of these is down to discretion from your local council.

I think I read somewhere this doesn't apply in England. I've just checked my local council's website (Plymouth) and can't find anything on there.

I'm not seeing anything in that link about motability cars and blue badge eligibility.
