I have loved reading through this thread, gives me lots of ideas for holidays! We love to travel with our kids but for some reason people always seems to have a downer on it " can't take the kids long haul, how do you afford it" blah blah blah:rotfl:
So we have just had a fabulous relaxing time in Portugal, a surprise Lapland trip for the kids in December and Greece next year :j
Can't wait! And hopefully as we have lots of BA miles from our Florida trip last year we might be able to fit a long weekend city break somewhere in Europe over the summer. I am thinking maybe Amsterdam or Budapest ........

This thread's been a bit quiet lately.

Me and the Mrs are off to Morecambe and the Lake District on Monday for 4 nights. Staying at The Strathmore Hotel, on Morecambe Prom, looking out across the Bay to the South Lakeland Hills.

At the end of October we've got 4 weeks in Malta, staying in Bugibba. Had 3 weeks in Mellieha in February, and really enjoyed the beautiful George Cross Island.

Last weekend I was messing on Skyscanner, looking for a bit of Winter inspiration.

I saw good vfm flights to Bangkok in February with Emirates, and didn't hesitate @ £395 pp [+ a bit of cash back] return via Emirate's hub in Dubai.

Got the 1335 flight from LGW on 2 February, arriving at 1235 the following lunchtime, with a 3 hour stopover in Dubai. Plan is...

    - 3 nights hotel v.close to the Chao Phraya River. Staying at either the New Siam Riverside, or New Siam Palace View.

    - 0745 train to Kanchanaburi [Bridge over the River Kwai + Hellfire Pass. 3 nights in the area...

...been before, so it's familiar. Stay at the Sky Resort.

    - train back to Bangkok. Stop overnight.

    - Fly to Vietnam [Hanoi] with Nok Air. Already booked.

    - 14 nights in the North of Vietnam [possibly a few days in Quy Nhon on the central coast. No accommodation booked yet, but have found loads of well located possibles.

    - Fly back to Bangkok with Nok Air for last 3 nights, with probably a night at Ayutthaya, the old capital of Siam.

    - 27 February. Fly back to UK.

    Happy travels.:)

Currently on a 12 day holiday in Canada, first few days have been in Toronto and oh boy its very hot!!!

Off to see Niagara falls tomorrow.

Friday I'm flying to Vancouver for 3 days before I have to return to the UK.

This is my 3rd time here in Canada, but the 1st time I've seen outside of the hotel/office as the previous 2 trips were work related.

Our trip to the south of France is looming. Found out that we'll be very close to the Tour de France Route one day so 11yo son very excited to go and see the cyclists zipping by.

Apart from Lagos in Portugal in about 8 weeks time, we've booked 2 weeks in Malaysia for the middle of Feb next year.

We found a good deal on Qatar in business class out of Helsinki (using Avios for the positioning flight on BA the night before). Fly into KL, spend 3 days there before heading off to Penang for a week. Hotels booked, flights to/from KL-Penang booked

They are turning off the falls at some point in the very near future for only the second time in 115 years to repair a bridge, from the old photos it looks amazing to see it dry.

How the hell do you turn off Niagra??

And When 'cos I'd go to see that :)

I see they thought of it in Feb this year

Diverting the water to Canadian side.

Wonder if they'll ever do it.

They've already done it in the past and will do it again this year soon.
