The BA better still have seats available when I book sooooon! I need to get Easter sorted!LisaLou1982 wrote: »I love this thread!
We have also got our holidays booked for next year..... We are going to the Isle of Skye for a week at Easter, and to Bowness on Windermere in the Lake District for a week in October. We have just booked a week in Crete in June so at least we can hope to get some sun!!
Next year is a big year for us as we hope to move in January and have big plans for a full loft conversion and 2 storey extension on our new house so holidays in 2016 wont be as plentiful as 2015!
Oh snap on house extension.....I'm waiting for my architect to come back with plans, I'm excited but I suspect I might have bitten off way more than I can chew with holiday's and extensions.
My accountant told me how much I owe the taxman too so I'm a bit :mad::(:(:(
HERES TO AN EXCITING 2016, filled with Sun, Sea, Sand, Cocktails, new & unexplored Destinations, Snow, Rain, new food experiences, new and interesting cultural experiences and successful extensions!:beer::j:j0 -

I almost booked China & Nepal yesterday! Travelbird have some great deals going, but if I book it it'll take all the fun out of my own planning.0

Because we live near London City Airport (which is usually not known for cheap flights) we find it really economic to get there (in our case on our AOP - aka scroungers' - free travel pass) and buy BA's good value flight + car packages to places like Malaga or Florence...
Using public transport for the 25 minute trip to the airport saves us up to £100 on driving to/parking at/taking cabs to other London Airports, and LCY's 20-minute check-in/security takes the stress out of flying.
So we're off to Nerja in a couple of weeks for as little as £300 for flights and 2 weeks' car -hire... and although hotels in Spain are still really cheap if booked freelance, we got an even better deal by booking B&B at one of our more expensive favourites; the 'Balcon de Europa' in Nerja with about one-third off via Monarch (didn't use their flights as they depart Gatwick which is an expensive, time-consuming trip to get to)
our next 'Moneysavingexpert' trip is to Northern Spain in May... an amazing cost of less than £1k with Brittany Ferries in the car with a cabin upgrade and including 2 weeks in a series of great hotels including our world favourite 'Hotel del Oso' near Potes high in the Picos de Europa mountains (incomparable if you fancy some high walking). Move fast and you may catch their early discount0 -

Where are you hoping to go, or are you just going to see what's available in the sale?
Easter 2016
Miami for 3 nights
Cruise for 11 Nights (Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia and Antigua)
I'd like to also buy tickets for our August East Coast to West Coast holiday.I almost booked China & Nepal yesterday! Travelbird have some great deals going, but if I book it it'll take all the fun out of my own planning.
I know what you mean Duke, the fun is booking it all yourself. I like to look at package deals like that to see how they split the time/travelling etc. I use it as a starting point. For our East Coast to West Coast trip I used this as inspiration. LINK0 -

I've checked out both those hotels and I love them!
£300 for flights and two weeks car rental is a good deal, wow!:T
I've saved Hotel del Oso to my favourites as I think it would make a pleasant change to my usual sun sea sand holidays! Thanks for sharing:beer:0 -

The Oso ( http://hoteldeloso.es/en/home/ ) gets reviews which, in the words of one Tripadvisor reviews, are 'off the scale' but it is in the middle of nowhere, so a car is essential. Ask for a room overlooking the pool, as that also gives you a view of the mountains which are snow-capped right into May... and you can walk them easily with the help of a cable-car at the head of the valley at 'Fuente De'. Alternatively, if you use Brittany Ferries (and their 20% discount on early booked holidays is still open- but probably not for long!) any of their hotels in northern Spain are worth a go- and that coast is very undeveloped compared to the Costas. Last year I stood in real fossil dinosaur footprints only a kilometer along a coastal path from La Griega beach near Colunga
The Balcon de Europa http://www.hotelbalconeuropa.com/en/ is very different; it's in the middle of a busy resort- albeit to my mind, one of the nicest on the Costa del Sol, and off season, it's full of English pensioners! (like us!) So don't buy half board off season, as the food is very 'English', but there are dozens, if not hundreds of places to eat at night in town. However, the Balcon's own beach restaurant is unmissable for lunch.
I hope you make it there MasterP0 -
