Lived just outside of Paphos for 3 years.
Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit. Not too hot, and more importantly no oppressive humidity.0 -
19 days wandering around the American South West just booked.
Departing in less than three weeks!0 -

That sounds interesting. How did you book, are you following a fixed itinerary?0 -

Maybe next year... but that'll depend on certain family members co-operation.
Happy to say that I was wrong!
Various family responsibilities sorted or postponed and chances of getting away next year fading, so decided to 'go for it'. Booked flights 3 days ago and leaving home Tuesday afternoon!

Planning a route now. Probably stretching out from Moab to San Francisco with flights to/from Vegas.0 -
Btw Expedia has LHR-SGN 30 sept -14 oct in premium economy non stop direct on Vietnam airlines for £994 pp
They are currently showing £933 for the dates I'm looking at. Alternatively, £520-ish in Economy on Emirates. I need to make a decision and book the flights in the next few days.
I have settled on HCMC with a side trip to the Mekong Delta and a few days in Hue but can't decide on where else. I normally like having an itinerary locked down but this time I may just freestyle it and leave my options open then work out a route when I get there.0 -
Just need to cover
South America more
Easter Island is my goal
More South America sounds a winner. Me + Mrs C visited last year, now we have more time in retirement. It was a typical tourist tour, much at 4km altitude in Peru, Bolivia and Chile and we were stunned by it all, people, places, history, the whole works. Of course, South America is H-U-G-E, so we definitely need more visits. In planning, and it really needs planning, is to head South from Santiago in Chile, down through wine country, lake district, Patagonia, round the Horn (must be mad) and then back North through Argentina, definitely reaching the Iguazu Falls.
Gotta visit Colombia... Ecuador...
Visits to the more usual places like Canada, Aus/NZ have been postponed0 -
Vietnam update: flight to Saigon booked on Emirates. China Southern were cheaper but I didn't fancy a long layovers in CDG and Guangzhou with a total travel time of 48 hours each way!
Current plan is 3-4 nights in Saigon with a side trip to the Mekhong Delta, 3 nights Dalat, 4 nights Hue and then one final night in Saigon before flying home. All internal flights are all looking good value at about £20-30 each including a checked bag. I'm really not a fan of overnight trains.0
