If that's a modern car after year 2000 it's really not adviseable. Best to ask on a biodiesel forum, there's one which has a list of a lot of cars that have run on oil, not a perfectly maintained list but it is a start.

It would take me a while to find the list, so I won't be looking yet, but check back here on Monday and I may have posted it by then.

I've been keeping an eye on the prices in my local Tesco - The 15 litre steel drums and the 10 litre plastic containers work out at about 95p to £1 a litre now - but if you buy the 3 litre bottles it's about 75p a litre.
Not much logic there, they are quite obviously cashing in on the switch to fuel use. I wish I had access to those cash & carry outlets!

Costco sell large drums very cheap.

    Mike

Really ? How cheap do you consider cheap to be ?

In the near future (if not already) you'll be seeing 90p/lt plus for 'cheap' veg oil from the usual suspects.

Don't use it in a Hdi engine. Injector pressures are far too high.

Here you go Stamford, I find the best way to look at the list is to select "view all" and as it is user updated and users who enter the information, it is naturally a bit hit and miss as some users don't bother to enter all the info they should.

  • Just out of curiousity, has/is the price of veg oil still rising ?
