operation show at least 160 stretch limousines were checked in 15 police forces showing an offending rate of 66%. Twelve vehicles were immediately prohibited for serious defects and taken off the road, whilst a further 27 were issued with delayed prohibitions.

Yes, the report did show what you state but something up to date might be more relevant to your claim.
That police operation was eight and a half years ago.

Yes hermione . Do you have anything of use to say to offer advice to the op?

Old news of criminality is still factual.
Thought I might get that response from the " offer no advice but nitpick" brigade
    Does this help

also , you went off on a tangent , no where on the original post did they mention a stretched limo , you presumed that cowboys drive "posh" taxis , and they were breaking the law,

I agree , that some of the larger stretched ones often run very close to the law and often have incorrect insurance (number of seats etc)

I actually know several taxi drivers that have bought older limo,s and use them in conjuction there licences , to pay for there upkeep , non of those people have connections with gangsters

I'm guessing the £50 is the amount the limo broker charged the Limo company and they decided they would recover this from you

Old news might be factual but old news does nothing to back up your claim that "Limousine hire is notoriously linked to criminality btw." nor does the report of a single limo being crushed for failing to meet current safety standards.

Hermione are you an offended limousine ?
    I find your replies bizarre.
    Did you miss this quote.

Officers uncovered links to “organised criminality” and found a number of “cloned” vehicles. The operation has led to “several large-scale investigations”, Acpo said.

Acpo-that's the association of chief police officers.

all the police and newspaper reports are about STRETCHED limo,s , and in most cases being wrongly insured or the driver not having a BUS licence , the OP never mentioned that the limo was stretched , and I think using one for a wedding would be pointless

The op didn't say it wasn't stretched.
    They are used for weddings.
