  • I appreciate you are young and a little naive, OP, but honestly, you have asked what to do several tmes and has overwhelmingly been given the same advice - CANCEL THE CARD.

If you don't want to cancel it, then stop asking for advice. It's not going to change.

Should I phone Bank of Scotland and just cancel the card or do I wait and see if the guy was legit?

i'm never the contributor to go down this line, but i'm starting to think you are having us on now:doh: if he wasn't legit, then while you are waiting he might be taking your money. as LT says, either take the advice or stop asking:).

OK I got through, I told the girl what happened and I asked if she could check my details, I gave her my post code and she said that because the 'application' only happened yesterday they won't have my details just yet.

I told her the guy was at a pop up stand and she said that they do have them and the guy was probably legit. She said I should phone in a week's time to see if my 'application' has come through.

Should I phone Bank of Scotland and just cancel the card or do I wait and see if the guy was legit?

Why do you keep asking the same question, getting the same good advice from everyone and continue to come up with reasons not to follow the advice?

Nobody here is going to tell you 'it'll probably be alright' when there's a really simple answer.

Which part of 'cancel the card now' do you not understand? You are liable for any fraudulent transactions on it until you do so. The bank will not reimburse you, because you freely gave the details to a third party. So far you've just been very naive, so don't compound the error by rank stupidity and failing to act.

sounds like spam post to me, as much as people get caught out by pop up stalls, or chuggers (charity muggers) everyone has that bit of common sense to cancel their card if they think something isn't right, if he didn't have any doubt then he wouldn't have posted....

I think that he hasn't cancelled the card with all the advice he isn't going to do, The bank will not cover any transactions if its not cancelled, its his money he is putting at risk, if at all this has happened at all..

Like others have said you would have waited to get through on the phone to Aqua regardless of having the account number.

The fact that the person read the back of the card and has got the OP address and DOB, he has all the information needed...

Even someone so young has some form of sense to cancel card if in any doubt, if it is genuine then it won't matter but if it'd not its a very good move...
