Covered in the link posted in post #9. The advert asks for calls after 6pm on a mobile, which is perfectly reasonable if you're not in an office.

Have a good look at the other cars the trader has. He is a sweeper, get it back to him and hassle him for the cash, he'll sell it again tomorrow.

My favourite is the 220K Golf TDI with no mention of service history.

A 15 year old car with 155k on the clock is very near the end of its useful service life. I assume you didn't have the opportunity to take it for a test drive?

I read the OP that he did, and that the first symptoms were a week after purchase :

    Yes you can!
It's history etc is in fact very useful for anybody looking for cars to fix back up, makes assessing it's value post-repair a lot easier.

Op potentially has rights here imo - however, if the dealer turns round with some story the fact he wrote trailered away could in fact go towards substantiating some dodgy claims. The sold as seen part isn't necessarily anything to worry about on its own.

    No you can't!

You can only sell a "spares or repair" to another trader because it would be likely illegal for it to be driven away. In this case the OP drove the car away which the seller should not of allowed if it was not fit for the purpose.

Which ever way you paint it, the seller has attempted to remove the consumer's rights which breaches the SOGA.
