    I think that's already passed :(.

I really feel like eBay penalise me, I'm forever moaning about their really stupid estimates and feel I am the only one that is expected to use fairy dust post to get items there within a matter of hours.

EBay were estimating less than 9 days to Australia?! I guess they're using the RM estimate of 5-7 working days. I've only ever posted a couple of things there, but they've never got there in their estimated time (luckily they weren't sent as a result of an EBay sale). It's a very inflexible system & can be so frustrating when an INR case is opened straight after the last delivery estimate elapses

I am a reactive seller- some might call me petulant, but if a case gets opened on this within a short time frame then I'm blocking Australia again for a while.

I had it blocked a couple of years ago for many months as I'd had a run of claims, if the post has collapsed there again I'm not risking it.

Pretty please :) Can any sellers answer my Q? above? Do you use 2nd class postage more now than a few years back? If so why.

    Thanks.

I've always used 2nd class post.

I post on the same or next day, so normally people get their things within 2 - 3 days of purchase.

As I'm a private seller I feel this should satisfy most people who buy from me.

I've found that, if I post things in the postbox, stamped as 2nd class, they often get there the next day. I think it's because the post people can't be bothered to add up the value of all the stamps, and just treat it as first class.

Therefore, this actually exceeds buyers expectations, which can't be bad.

    Terrible sellers :)

I bought a load of items on ebay yesterday afternoon and nothing arrived today. What is the world coming to?

Sellers should be sitting by the computer waiting for buyers and then pack the item and rush out to the post office within the hour. :)

Has everyone chosen slower postage methods over the last year or so? Or maybe its just certain sellers that do have a very fast turn around on postage?

More of the items i buy seem to be 2nd class these days. Less 1st class or 1st class recorded.

Is that due to the price increases?

My postage has not changed at all, I have always used 2nd class as my main postage method with 1st class as an additional option. The only difference has been that for parcels I very often use MyHermes now rather than RM.

I have not changed my postage since privatisation, nor have I noticed any difference. Most of my second class gets there very quickly, at some random points though the whole lot seems to go extra slow.

Probably no pattern then, Just the sellers i choose or maybe because i search by cheapest first?
So the first class postages sellers are a little lower down maybe.

I bought a cheap laptop battery very late on Tuesday night and it arrived Thursday. I think i started to find that the norm rather than the exception.

Many times i have bought stuff on a weekday afternoon and its arrived the next morning.

Typically i wanted a rare battery for something else and ordered it at the same time and it has not arrived yet. Even though they did state 1st class delivery.
Not in a rush for it now so will probably arrive with Saturdays post.

Ah, so you're the buyer that doesn't understand what 1 day dispatch actually means.

I really don't want to give one of my complicated explanations but I'm sure someone will explain dispatch to you- however, even on RM suggested times using 2nd class this item would not have been there on Monday morning. When it was posted, for the purposes of this thread, is immaterial.

1/ this post was directed/quoted at the op

2/ I post within 24 hours of receiving an order

3/ most eBay sellers post "whenever they feel like it" then stick a 1 St class stamp on and blame the Royal mail for it taking a week (as per my post on eBay sellers forums where I was mocked for posting 'same day' and subsequently eBay included 'posting time' in listing)

4 I have posted more parcels than this forum has posts and my personal experience with Royal Mail is every single 1st class post is delivered *next day* without a single exception!

your response to question 2 shows you do not understand dispatch at all. Whilst you say you have sent a number of parcels- and who would I be to suggest that perhaps you may again be mistaken, I would direct you to what ebay say about 1 day dispatch which is:

Seller has stated it will dispatch the item within 1 working day upon receipt of cleared payment -. Estimated delivery dates - include seller's dispatch time, and will depend on postal service selected. Delivery times may vary, especially during peak periods.

The whole point of the thread is that many buyers , like you, fail to understand that 1 working day is not 'within 24 hours'.

As for 1st class post, good on you to do better than RM estimates for postage, way to go.

I understand that your posting style here is to put your own unique spin onto otherwise sensible threads, and I know you won't agree with any one who disagrees with your own interpretation, but I am anxious that for any new buyers actually understand what ebay are telling them.
