I realise why superstores use these cowboys, commuters trying to avoid expensive council or NCP parking use the free alternative supplied by the retail outlet.....stopping genuine customers from getting to the store.

But at the same time, nothing says "we despise our customers" more than engaging with these cowboys firms. The superstores must know that the legal basis is false, that these fines have no legal standing and that this car parking control thing is based entirely on a lie and fear.

Do we really want to give our hard earned money to a superstore that treats its customers with such contempt?

If you want to control parking, stick a barrier at the front of the car park and offer 2hrs free parking like lots of other supermarkets still do. Contracting with a cowboy firm is just more profiteering from the supermarkets who can't be bothered to invest a few grand in respecting their customers.

That would be marginally understandable if it were always the case but I can think of at least one supermarket near to where I live that's all by itself on an out of town stand alone site with no immediate neighbours so there would be no reason for anyone to park on their car park other than if they were shopping there. Yet there are still signs around the car park to say parking cowboys are operating there. Why?

I can also think of at least retail park where the car park is about twice the size it needs to be so it's very rarely more than half full, and has probably never been completely full in all the time it's been there, yet a "parking management" (sic) company operates there. It's certainly not there because genuine customers can't get to the stores
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

I'm sure the sales pitch terrifies the store into thinking it is losing millions each day because of illegal parking and, because there is no cost at all to the store for the provision of parking control, its a bit of a no brainer. No outlay for the store plus millions of potential income = why not?

The Asda near me has just had these Parking Eye signs pop up and I will be writing a letter to the store (and the local newspaper) asking why they feel they should expose their customers to such illegality?

Asda might as well just have a sign at the front door stating "Asda Superstores are complicit in defrauding our customers by allowing a third party to issue false fines upon our patrons".

You would be extremely silly to even consider paying this. You have x3 options here:

Option 1 - Ignore it...... It will eventually go away, regardless of what threats, what "evidence" they claim to have. Their entire operation operates on one thing - your 'fear'.

Option 2 - You could write to them, but in doing so would require some form of legal know how.

Option 3 - You can bend over, and pay it. Shaming yourself, and the image of yourself in front of your children, contributing to the further oppression that awaits the next generation due to your weakness.

The first 2 options are the better ones ;)

2.5 hours? What if you popped in to get lunch first at one of the cafe's? Sat and had a discussion, then went to do your shopping? Unfortunately the land in which these car parks and retail parks were built on were OURS. The council had no right to sell it. But they sold it, and now these 'private' companies want to charge US for the use of parking on land that already belongs to us. Under law, this is why they can only provide you with a parking 'notice', or parking charge 'notice'. They are supplying you an offer to contract. They have to, because they have no rights under law to 'fine' you, or to take you to court over £60 / £70 / £120. The only way they could ever take you to court is if they could prove that they had suffered losses (to that amount being asked from you) but because parking 30 minutes over would never constitute to a loss they cannot take you to court. They have no leg to stand on

I am sorry but you are wrong on the first two counts ....:-( well intentioned but wrong .....

Have a quick read through the link I posted as for why .........

ignoring can now (Scotland exempt) can end up in court ........ and has not been the best advice for over two years now!

We need to check if the court is handled by an authentic judge, either residential or floating, or whether it is the company hiring a room out for the day with a legal administrator overlooking the proceedings. I would guess the latter, seeing how the council also deceitfully get people into court using this method.

PCN's are fairly easy, a lot easier than council issues parking tickets, x2 of which I have eliminated in the past. The basic structure of the rules does not change, only the processes (to confuse)

Cannot find answer anywhere so will ask here, relative has been fined £30 for parking outside of parking bay line it's not a LA carpark and privately run. She has actually parked on the line not going over the lines outer edge and into the next bay. Is this classed as outside or do the wheels need to be completely within the inner edge of line (has photo proof to send them)
Many thanks in advance for any help offered.
