Must admit I too were dissapointed with EE's retention offers and did hte decent thing and left.
After a little research I managed to save £120 over two years on the identical deal I was offered by EE retentions dept. Who were,

Deals have become visibly worse since the merger/takeover of Orange and T-Mobile into EE, removal of the T-Mobile and Orange brands and the demise of Phones4u/Dialaphone. We are only just seeing air of the implications of these major changes and the takeover of EE by BT, and O2 by Three may make it even more expensive.
You may still find that there are better deals on the same network gong in as a new customer either direct or through CPW etc. You can port out your number to a PAYG sim then port back if you want to keep your number.
Cashback from Quidco or Topcashback is generally available too and also if you shop around there can be some Cashback deals or other offers (though need to do your research before signing up for these type of deals).0 -
Without wishing to upset anybody, a lot of people (not just here) need to move away from the 'sense of entitlement' and the feeling that loyalty is or should be rewarded. It isn't. Businesses exist to make money, not to keep people happy.
I wouldn't expect a supermarket to reduce the price of items for me just because I'm a regular shopper. If the price is more than I'm willing to pay, I go elsewhere.
Though you do have a point, I would have thought a company would at least try and make an effort to keep a customer like me who has been with them for about 14 years, who pays all his bills on time and on occasion, has even spent £150 a month over my bill. My bad, went well over my data limit and the minutes I had without knowing. Doh.
I phoned EE the other day and the deal they offered me was plain awful. I had a quick look on CPW and the deals they had as a new customer were shed loads better. I am definitely going to be calling up again and cancelling my contract with EE.0 -

Which of course is exactly why all companies discount pricing to 'new' customers. The UK mobile market is mature, there is no more growth to be had, so the only way to grow market share is to poach customers from your rivals.
The profits come from apathetic or lazy customers, or those who misguidedly think that 'loyalty' will be rewarded. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Or if your rate of acquisition exceeds your rate of loss. Mobile companies seem to put far more into marketing to new customers than retaining the old, they must know something we don't.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

OP, have you thought of keeping your s4 and getting a cheap sim deal. The S6 looks a great phone but do you really need it?
Or you could buy a cheap Chinese phone from Amazon. Those below £100 have amazing performance.
I have a note 2 that is now 30 months old and I have managed to reduce my monthly cost by 2/3 since the end of my 2 year contract.
I just can not bring myself to throw money away on a brand new phone when my old one works perfectly for my need.
However I am not young and foolish, I am old and less foolish.
Plus I don't have money to burn. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
Had 2 lines with T Mobile one "switched" out yesterday and the other "switching" out now they offered me a free tablet with 2gb internet if I stayed with them I told them I already had a tablet and did not wish to use it outside to which they replied on both occasions ok we will issue you with your PAC code..they never even offered to discuss a new deal at all and just asked which network I was going to !0
