Naturally, they aren't right on the coast for that price (although the trad. holiday destination rooms are only about £50 per night per room). We got a family room for 4 of us (king sized bed, pull out sofa bed) for £26 per night for 4 nights in Reading for a bit of sightseeing - close enough to Windsor Castle, Legoland (lastminute.com discount tickets bought in advance) and close enough to London if we wanted to go in by train. We are taking cornflakes, bowls and sugar with us for brekkie (Tesco express a couple of minutes away for the milk) so that saves us the £4 costs of a Travelodge mini breakfast. Hope the rain keeps off
Well worth keeping an eye on the Travelodge website - I use them a lot for getting the family together etc. Basic rooms, you can get them at £15 per night PER ROOM and you can see a list of all their hotels where rooms are available at this price, so it's a good way of exploring new places too! When I've booked far enough in advance I've got rooms in Central London for £15! If you sign up to their website they will send you notification of their room sales. Remember you have to book at least two weeks in advance for the bargains.
Also worth keeping an eye on is Hoxton hotels - got a room for a night in their new 4 star hotel new Old Street tube for £1!! It was stunning!!0 -
We holiday on the Isle of wight every year at the same place & get a great deal from rebooking. It's in the small village of Newchurch & self catering, sleeps 8 & has all ameneties on site.No extra charges for electric/gas/hot water or central heating!Village pub next door is lovely, great food (make sure your hungry!)friendly locals too.Central to drive up on the Downs or 15 mins to beaches.Cycle path nearby takes you into Sandown without any roadwork.Nature reserve with peaceful walks within 5mins walk.
Theres so much to see & do on the Island,we hope to retire there we love it so much!!:beer:0 -
The lighthouse at Rua Reidh, near Gairloch in Scotland is a fantastic little bolt-hole. I stayed there a couple of years back.
Several miles out in the middle of nowhere it's run by a lovely couple, Chris and Fran. Fresh laid eggs with your bacon in the morning, a couple of dogs you can walk (and they know the best route round the nearby cliffs), otters, dolphins, basking sharks, whales, golden eagles, and no mobile phone signal for miles. Heaven.
They also provide rock climbing tuition and, if the dogs aren't adventurous enough for you, guided walking tours of some of the most breathtaking scenery you'll ever see in the British isles.
While your in the region, be sure to visit the little pub in the bay at Badachro, they do great coffee and home-made fudge. Don't forget to ask them about the guy who drove his car off of the jetty into the sea by mistake, it's a great story!0 -

That was a scarily fast hop from the This Morning studios!
Having travelled all over the world, my favourite holiday still has to be ... Skegness!
I fell in love with Skeg, and more specifically Butlins, as a child, and have been going back ever since. I even worked at Butlins in Skeg for a year!
In Skeg you have lovely beaches, fish and chips, and the best amusement arcades (I'm such a classy bird!).
Butlins is actually at Ingoldmells, where there is also Fantasy Island and the best market! Endless tat, but who cares, it is all part of the fun!
Further into Lincolnshire, you can have a day out in Lincoln. Absolutely lovely traditional market town, great for sightseeing or for shopping.
Enjoy! x
Hi all,
We holidayed in skegness after finding a caravan on www.directholidayhomes.co.uk these are privately owned static caravans in holiday sites throughout the country, prices start from under £100 per week!:T :j :T0 -

We booked a room at in the Docklands Travelodge for this weekend for £26 a night for the 4 of us and also booked a double room for my mum and stepdad for the same amount go on Saturday for 3 nights and is costing £78 for each family. Not including brekky but there is abuffet style one for £7.50 and the kidsd eat free (just as well my eldest aged 7 eats like a horse!!!!Banned from Pizza Hut eat as much as you want buffet!!) But sure that I'd read somewhere when we'd first booked it that it could be a con, that even though its advertised at £26 you could end up paying more did anyone else see this? I've had by confirmation back and everything and also obviously payed for it months ago.0 -

Have stayed at Docklands travelodge and took a copy of the confirmation email with us. Had no probs. When we have used travelodge before we have taken a mini fridge with us and plugged it in so that we have milk for cereals the next day breakfast to keep costs down.0
