OK ladies and gents ... a spanner has been thrown into the works

Now this isn't a bad spanner, it's an opportunity spanner, and I can't decide whether to grab it or leave it

On my course we have an Erasmus programme, I have been given the opportunity of being considered to go, I have been shortlisted and do believe that if I chose to I will be successful in going.

It will cost money , quite a bit of money, it's a chance I will never ever get again in life ( but that doesn't mean I need to take it)

But it is an opportunity to spend 3 months in a different culture learning new skills and meeting new ideas ... a HUGE part of me wants to grab this and run with it but there is the sensible El sitting in the back ground going ... well you know it's money, you might land up having to stay in student digs and listen to nonstop parties ( one of my ideas for hell )

Etc etc etc ... you know how the sensible part in your head goes

    So ladies and gents

    What would you do ?

Well, like you said- the opportunity may not arise again, part of you wants to go, so why not run with it El.
You may kick yourself if you don't. In the grand scheme of things, what's money anyway?
Yes, financial stability is great, but spending money on something worthwhile isn't a bad thing either.

Oh and Mr El and myself finally went away in our caravan, it was amazing, just what the dr ordered, we went to Invermill near Dunkeld, as I wanted to walk through Birnam wood ( Shakespeare fans may recognise the name ;) ) we rested, walked along the Tay visited Dunkeld partook in the local hospitality and rested some more, was brilliant just to touch base with each other again.

For our summer we have plans for Glencoe, Eilean Donan, Skye, Harris, Lewis, Fort Augustus, Culloden and Aberfeldy ( or maybe Kenmore) till then it will be wee weekends away

We'll be up on the west coast of Scotland in August, as we're on a short cruise. I'm not sure exactly what we'll do yet, but I want to go to Eilean Donan, as it was owned by the McKenzies. My great grandmother was a McKenzie, although her family was from Tain.

I reckon your'll have a fab time in your caravan, with all the beautiful views.

Money is a tool to let you live the life you want; not an end in itself. This is one case where I think the life experience completely outweighs the cost. I think you should go.

It is likely that accommodation will be provided for you by the receiving organisation, so although they will probably be student digs, they will not be private dives.

Binge drinking is primarily a UK phenomenon, (though the French are starting to notice a rise) so although there will be parties, there will not be constant Saturday night "Calls of the Huey".

That's assuming you choose a foreign organisation of course. "England" does not count as foreign in this particular matter.

Also, depending on when you go, should dictate where you choose. Avoid Northern Europe in winter lest you discover that women do have brass balls after all, and they've just been frozen off in -40...

Otherwise - enjoy, it's not like it'll happen every year.

    Hey Handsome :)

Well it would bearch time and although Mr El and I fancy retiring to either Spain or Portugal I'm actually thinking Norway or Finland as they really appeal to me, with the course I am doing and my interest in sociology and my love of politics these two places really appeal to me

Mr El wants me to go to Portugal or Spain ... it's a bit if a choice really :)
