Yes, not sure what we were celebrating but celebrate we did! Putting the world to rights or my excellent (if surprising) result from scary lecturer? Mine was a peach bellini - tough life.

Oh and I don't think vegan food is for me but would happily return there for beer :D

Well I've been informed the one I attended last night was a mild one not very long and one of the better ones

Would I do another ? No not even if I was paid

Maybe it's a generational thing but I found degrading women and insulting them really disgusting, the majority in the room were in stitches, Mr El my friend and myself sad stoney faced and stared... I was informed that the women get their own back .. !!!!!! ... so we live in a world where it's acceptable to to totally slate females in a disgusting manner but it's ok cause the women do it to the men as well ?

And it's all just a bit of harmless fun ?

I tell ya, if I was ever to hear my husband , son or any male family member I loved talk about women like that I would be ashamed and so angry, they would hear me and never speak like that again... and that goes both ways ... if I ever heard a woman talk about a man in that way

I've always shied away from things like Burns suppers as I didn't think I would enjoy them .... but I honestly didn't expect that

The fact I was so disgusted seemed to upset a few people ... tough I don't ever want to find that language acceptable and funny and if they choose not to be disgusted by it then to me that says a lot about them

    Rant over lol

I don't know... I say some pretty putrageous things to Mrs E for shock value, but she knows that I need to vent my cruder sense of humour from time to time and will reciprocate with occasional off the cuff remarks that would probably be considered pretty rude in company. That's the point tho, we'd never say them to anyone other than each other in jest...

Sorry you had to put up with that El, I suspect that things were mebbe a bit too bawdy, I doubt you're a special snowflake when it comes to decorum :D

I'm certainly no snowflake lol ... I give Billy connolly a run for the mlney with the effing I do... but I don't like disrespect, if he had said those kinda things about black people or Asian people he would ( quite rightly) be called racist, but he didn't, he chose to call women female dog names and that was one of the polite ones.

As I say I don't genuinely think sensible younger people would use that language ( maybe some of the not so sensible people) but it was all older people that were there ( apart from us lol)

My friend sat with his mouth open, he is not from Scotland so when we got outside I said I am so sorry you have experienced this it is honestly not what Scotland is about, he was shocked and said El that's a disgusting way to talk ... and they thought that was funny ?

But apparently ours was one of the better ones ... ach well ... done it won't repeat it

Mr El has just came into the living room ... he's still spitting feathers about last night... I don't think I've seen him this irritated for a while

So with that in mind I think we will go out for the day and clear away last night's event ... maybe a wee walk in nature or something
