Ohhh and my bank is currently offering 1.79% 2 year fixed deal for when my fixed rate ends ( which is April so I accept this may not be available then)
Not that I am paying much interest per day, but the less I need to pay the happier I am0 -
Will they let you sign up in advance? Think we've been offered rates for up to 5-6 months in advance in the past?
Interesting insights re. Mr El, I think I can relate re. GAD and aspects of his temperament (grumpiness/intensity/myoic focus are ringing lots of (alarm?) bells0 -

didnt even think of that Ed thanks ... will check it out
yeah GAD is a horrible horrible thing to experience, I see Mr El tearing himself apart over it often, he cant seem to stop himself, he knows he is doing it but cant stop, he feels sick and shakes and starts being a right crabbit !!!!!! but he isnt doing it to hurt anyone he just cant help it. I feel quite heart sorry for him tbh.
Dont stress too much though if you recognise parts of yourself in his behaviours a lot of us do, it's only a real problem when it takes over and effects yourself and loved ones0 -
grrrr ... phoned the bank up ( thanks for the idea Ed)
yes I can alter my mortgage early, however, as my mortgage is in two parts... the part that I can change has less than 2 years to run and the lowest fixed rate is for 2 years so I cant access it.
The second part which I specifically remember asking for it to be up for renewal at the same time is not up for renewal till December 17 so I am not allowed to alter that part at this time. Now I specifically remember asking for them both to come up for renewal at the same time so that I could sort them together, but I do not have any paper work to evidence this, So I will need to just suck it up and accept that I am not really going to save much in interest on the mortgage, tbh this is not the end of the world as it will be gone soon, I am merely just trying to squeeze every penny I can.
My payments will drop to less than £200 a month in April but I will continue to pay the amount I am paying just now and get this mortgage out of my face then transfer my attention to the second mortgage. Whilst still trying to ensure I am piling as much as we can comfortable afford into the pension.0 -
But atleast now I know0

Are you buying yet El? Trying to sit on my hands today, will likely stick in a few £££ if things continue to tank once US markets open.0
