Finally got my marriage tax allowance through, so we should hopefully pay less tax from next month. On an aside bought the new national paper today called ( funnily enough) "The National"... I say this as I have been following on Twitter for ages a character called Angry Salmond, well Angry Salmond got his own column in the paper today. Just read it and had a wee giggle, Just thought I would share :)

Did the weekly financial review with Mr El, this time I did the sums he did the online banking ( next time we swap) he was very very surprised at how things all mount up and how much we are spending on certain things.

This is starting to become very interesting, I have explained to Mr El just now we are gathering info, we are just trying to figure out how much we spend and where we spend it so that when it comes to the monthly budget we can have an idea of how to sort the bills out. I think he thinks everything is great, whereas I can instantly see problems ahead, for example Mr El has always said that £50 a month is more than enough for treats, I have tried to explain to him it isnt but he dug his heels in. This week alone we spent £75 on eating out ( yep I was shaking my head but Mr El wanted to go out and come on Mrs El its only £25 a time, went three times) and we spent quite a bit on alcohol, Mr El seemed to want to have a good drink so £25 was spent on alcohol, There we have double the amount we have for a month spent in a week. It will be interesting to see what happens in the budget week.

I am hoping I wont have to be banging my head off the table anymore once we get right on top of this, and I am desperately hoping Mr El starts to understand exactly what happens with our money.

That *does* sound interesting, El - and actually, it doesn't sound like Mr El sees eating out as a treat - more as something ordinary, with it being 3 times in one week?

I am sure that having to do the sums will be very himpowering for Mr El ;)

Taking an honest look at the figures can be very helpful, but oddly threatening at the same time. You have all these assumptions about your financial life that are probably total nonsense.

On the one hand, it's a great opportunity to address these and improve your finances, on the other hand it can be stressful as you end up feeling less rich than when you had the rose tinted specs on!

I would agree with that Kc, Mr El see's eating out as a norm, as he does take aways, :(

Hey all, been away for a few days, we went on that wee break to Blackpool, I am really not a huge fan of Blackpool tbh but we were going to help Mil and Fil with aunty. We spent money, lots of money in fact, and most of it was on alcohol as there was not much else to do and the prices were steep.

Went to the pleasure beach one day, what a waste of time that was, thank goodness we got the tickets through Tosco points, I couldnt walk too much as my feet were sore so we spent quite a bit of time on the trams, thankfully with the hotel we stayed with we got free travel on the trams, it would've been lovely to walk as well as the beach side has been done up and is looking good, but between my shoulder ( yep that got sore again on the Saturday) and my feet I was basically not good for much.

Right i'm off to catch up with some diaries :)

He just came in and said " we need to do the money today" I nearly fell off ma perch ;)

I think it was cause I just mentioned Tilly's fantastic achievement and said how happy I am for her :)

See I love rollercoasters, always have done, have travelled to places like Sandusky to go on rollercaosters ( well Cedar point is the worlds best rollercoaster theme park allegedly) This however was a total joke, most of them were shut, the Big one never opened once, I was in agony on the grand national and I wish I could say it was worth it but it wasnt... I dont think we will be back put it that way :)
