Hello.
Just checking my online banking and noticed 89p being charged from my account on 4th April by "W M MORRISON"
Quick google search says this is Morrisons supermarkets, but I am sure I haven't visited in the last 1-2 weeks!
Does this look like a fraudulent transaction?

The 4th was a Saturday and so most debit card transactions don't go through on a weekend, normally just cashpoint or FP type transactions when it's not a working day.
Although this doesn't fit with it being on a weekend, the transaction is going out and not coming in from maybe rewards from your bank etc. I know a few do x% at Morrisons etc

Hi thanks for your reply. I understand but this wasnt a credit?
Sorry maybe I am just not understanding correctly.
But yes it does say 4th april in description, but appeared under todays date of 7th0 -
I would query it just in case it's the start of a bigger issue. Is the amount something that you would ever pay by card (maybe contactless)? If not then that makes it more likely that it could be fraudulent.0

We had some money fraudulently taken out of our joint current account middle of last year.
They initially took a really small amount, around £1 if I remember correctly, then withdrew a much larger amount.
When I spoke to the fraud people at the bank they said it's quite a common pattern.
If you definitely didn't use the card, then I'd recommend contacting your bank and reporting it as it might turn into something bigger.0 -
Spoke to the bank and all they could suggest is to keep an eye on it but they definately said its the supermarket although I know for definate that transaction is not mine.0

Keep an eye for what?!
If the transaction is definitely not yours, [STRIKE]than[/STRIKE] then report it accordingly and the bank has to refund it. However, if it was a chio&pin transaction they can try to prove you wrong and refuse the refund or take it back later.
Also the supermarket can provide a copy of the receipt that can give some idea.0 -
Debit transactions can take 6 months to be claimed if I'm not mistaken.
This one may have not been claimed at the time of the sale and a subsequent audit at the end of the financial year may have flagged it up and they have then charged the card on Saturday.
It's certainly one possibility.0 -
I thought the supermarket was Wm Morrison (short for William) and not W M Morrison???make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
