Much the same over here, Gen. :( Gulf War Vets and those with illness caused by being there are basically treated like sh*t. Finally some truths are coming out about what they were exposed to, but too late for many.

Our wonderful Government supposedly has a special love for veterans. Can't say that I notice it. Oh, it's more than love, it's a "Covenant". Not a lot to show that is working any more than any of the promises from this pile of s**te load of <better not say that word beginning with w with a k in it and ending with rs>.

Broken Hill was a pretty brutal place to live back then too. 50C days with no air con!!!

I've been trying to teach the Generalissimos that WW1 wasn't just about Gallipoli, even for the ANZACS.

About 20,000 men lost their lives at ANZAC Cove whilst 40,000+ died on the Western Front.

You get this constant bloody message here about Gallipoli. It's used to sell beer, food, gambling, sports (which are then used to sell beer and gambling), clothes, biscuits (not just ANZAC biscuits), wine, a supermarket, a music festival, rosemary scented candles (rosemary grew wild at ANZAC cove), lamb, rosemary. Gallipoli has been reduced to a marketing extravaganza and everyone loves it.

TV loves to celebrate Gallipoli and then in the ad break Victoria Bitter (a lager known as VB) encourages us to 'raise a glass'. Like with so much these days, the suffering is another opportunity for some company to sell their tawdry product with 10% of unaudited profits going 'to [nameless] charity'.

Great and true diatribe Gen! Fantastic!

As he says, tis a work in progress but now too late to register to vote here, but if you are registered (this to all who read this) GET OUT THERE ON MAY 7 AND VOTE FOR SOMEBODY! Phew exhausted after that shouting, and know am preaching to the converted here, but thought I'd shout in case any random person wandered into the Nice People Space.

    Hugs from Liverpool.

My lot and their partners are all going to vote now despite at the beginning of the campaign saying why bother. Result.
Spend less now, work less later.

    Bring on Monday. :)

That's fantastic news! :j While I obviously have my own choice for my preference it's really important for as many people as possible to vote. I can live with my preference not going anywhere if tis truly "the will of the people", but the last few GEs voting numbers have been going down. I'm in the Parliamentary Constituency that has the lowest turnout in UK - Riverside in Liverpool. I've always voted. As long as I have the ability I will vote.

I need to get my postal vote off on Monday. It has 2 polling papers (GE and local) and 2 envelopes and it always does my head in working out which goes where. :o

Thanks Jazee, I'm so glad to hear your family will be voting. :j :) :T

But then said "sod it" and went aerobatics flying in a Decathlon...

Stalls, spins, and unusual attitude recovery to get my hand in, then aileron rolls, barrel rolls, loops, and cuban eights for fun.

Sorry Hamish, but I'm feeling travel sick just reading your post! :o

Glad you're having some fun and relaxation (for you).

Whole idea leaves me feeling  but if it makes you happy that's great.

Do you have CAPS Hamish? I don't really know much about it, but DH was chatting to a pilot in the States last year who does similar manoeuvres who said he wouldn't be without it.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

CAPS (Cirrus Airframe Parachute System) is a ballistic recovery parachute installed in Cirrus aircraft.

It's the light aircraft version of an ejector seat, where you can pull a handle mounted in the roof panel and eject a parachute system that slows and recovers the aircraft. It almost always writes off a $300k airframe though.

I don't have it as I don't fly a Cirrus. (other ballistic recovery systems are (not widely) available)

The merits of the CAPS system and reasons why Cirrus developed it are a long conversation.

    You may find this interesting....
