Maggie - thanks for the photo. I love that sort of sky, when the clouds seem to form a bay (or rather, the land on either side of a bay, IYSWIM!)

Thanks Ivyleaf. I took quite a few photos today over the afternoon, but my arms were shaky and this was the best. Have to raise camera to lose the window ledge, so then get the shakes - plus if using the zoom makes the shakes even worse! :rotfl: I'll be glad when I'm more up to getting up again! Can then stand or even take photos elsewhere! ;)

How frustrating Maggie! I hope you will feel better as the days get longer.

Just realised it's high time I went and chopped up an onion and tried to decide whether we're having Spag Bol or Cottage Pie tonight!

Are you more or less stuck in bed at the moment? That's a real shame, and I hope you get better soon.

Aw thanks GDB! :) Been a bit beyond getting up since we came home from Christmas at the Caravan... Other than for Doctor, Dental Hygienist, Hospital. Oh and the nice one - DD2 had a family get together for the wider family on her birthday.

I think it's partly the January hibernation thing. Really want to get down to the allotment and do some digging - prob not a good idea in sodden ground! But there's other stuff we could do down there if it only stopped raining! :rotfl: I'm plotting a new shed so have somewhere dry to sit in down there when it rains. Current shed has lots of fungus growing in it, and the roof leaks.

We might try and do another caravan trip before I get my arm chopped, followed by more dentistry... Then there's OH's cardiac appt, can't remember when that is! We're both falling apart obviously! :o

Your arm chopped!? I got worried for a moment, then remembered that you are going to have about 0.01% of your arm removed. :)

January is the cruellest month of all, bringing clouds, rain, and other-such depressing weather. Closely followed by February. We really ought to fly south for January and February.

Rather helpfully I work on a floor at work that has a wonderful confluence:

    1. Having a breast feeding room
    2. Having no nursing mothers

It's the perfect place for a snooze.

Unfortunately others have noticed this so I can also nip down to the local library which has:

    1: Big leather armchairs
    2: Tolerance of snoozers

Worst case? First aid room which has a bed rather than an arm chair. It's a bit solid and it's also on the floor where the ops people are which makes me wonder what horrors the room has seen.

My favourite though is to go to the botanical gardens and lie under the big fig tree that's about 500m from the road on a gentle slope and kip while listening to a podcast.

A while ago I got a really nasty headache while at work and didn't happen to have any painkillers on me, so I went over to the place where students can go to get looked after if unwell in school. Ended up not only being provided with paracetamol but having a nice chat and being told that any time I wanted to come and lie down, either to sleep or just to rest, I was very welcome to turn up and they would provide me with a room with a bed in it. It's nice to know the offer is there, although so far I haven't taken them up on it - although I will admit having fallen asleep on the row of upholstered armless chairs under the window in the science office (ie the room where science teachers' desks are, including mine).

Sending hugs. Hope you are feeling stronger soon.
Impressed that you manage to stay so cheerful. :)

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Prob nearer 0.00001% :rotfl:

But still not looking forward to that! Who would? ;)

Caught a really interesting programme about the Mersey on BBC North West yesterday afternoon, totally by mistake. I looked up, and there was a Seabird Half Rater on the screen! :j So if you want to see what our Ruddy Duck looks like when sailing, the section about the Wallasey Yacht Club starts at about 15.45.
    ...

    A sailing question Maggie.

Sis and her hubby have bought a 40 foot yacht ; it's over in Vancouver. She wants us to go out for a holiday, and says we can borrow it.

Err, I have only sailed the Hobie Cat 16 we have over there, and that was on a pretty empty lake.

DW isn't exactly confident on our ability. I'm guessing this boat business needs experience?

If anybody were taking me out in that I'd want to see proficiency certificates from this country and to have seen them in action, behaving reasonably (while I stay on the shore watching).

I'd take it as an invitation to sit on it, berthed ... and drink my beer, eat my sandwiches, on the deck only.

    :)

You don't get ME out in open water!

Thank you Lydia for the hugs. I remain cheerful by watching lots of carp daytime TV. Shameful admission! :rotfl: But carp TV has long been a life saver for me when I can't get on with life.

I also think back to the whatever I did last year... One of my great memories from last year was going to the exhibition of Leonora Carrington's work. I can still close my eyes and remember some of the things there. And the ethos of just being there.

    http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-liverpool/exhibition/leonora-carrington

As I can remember going to the Matisse fabric paintings in London at Royal Acadamy

And other exhibitions too... And in some cases the places where they were - Compton Verney being one of those. But I was blown away by the Sphinxes on the bridge there, here's one of them:

I have lots of really nice memories. I think on them when life is hard. I try to make sure that each year I do some special exhibition or similar to build my memories. And there's always the lottie and caravan! :)
