It's important to keep oneself in check, live in reality - and to not overthink what might be desirable to other people in the future. Because the other route has the potential to run away with itself as ideas get bigger/bolder... and pricier.

    I'll stick with what I know I want/need and can use :)

I don't think anyone will like my kitchen in terms of re-sale. I like it, but most people would consider not enough storage, there's no where for a dishwasheretc etc, but it suits me. Might move next year, might be hear for 20 years.

Do what you like and go with the flow.

I take the view that if I had a personal physician at my beck and call 24/7, taking my readings all the time, then I would be able to make intelligent decisions about my health and be proactive in dealing with issues rather than reactive.

Of course, that personal physician is not practical today, but in a few short years the chips required will be available to be fitted internally.

In short, I want a step change to medical capability. Some in the NHS will actually fear this because it would mean an end to their work roles.

I'm far more proactive with the dogs health because I pay for the vets. I have high blood pressure - went through the roof and stayed there when Mr Bugs was ill - and have been waiting since April to get a 24 hour blood pressure monitor.

I really should just go and pay to see a private doctor, but because I pay into the NHS myself and pay employer's NIC, it feels like paying twice.

This is the end of life as you know it.
Gone are the carefree days when she'd be "a bit annoyed" at you for half a day.
This one will be thrown in your face forever..... the story told round dinner tables, of how her husband financially abused her by denying her some joy for the sake of £5. And how she missed her dream coat FOREVER!

And forever is the term over which Ye shall pay penance.

Say goodbye to life as you knew it. It's gone.
    Ashes.
    No more.

    :)

It was rather more than £5. :)

Besides that, the coat was not long enough to cover the hem of DW's skirt. Or is that okay these days?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

She'll make it sound like "just £5" as the story evolves.

To be fair, there have been no recriminations. Kate is not spoken of kindly, though.

Definitely not a consideration any more; in fact it may even be a 'thing' to have a coat shorter than the dress or skirt.

PS forgot to say an extra thanks to Gen, I found that really interesting to hear about the Oz system.

In the words of my parents....go for it before life deals you a sh*t hand (they are Londoners, the language can be a bit colourful at times, especially from my mum!)

I'm excited but also scared at the same time, having a wheelchair means things are not quite as straight forward as not having one. I won't be able to drive to or from the airport due to energy levels, the holiday itself may cause issues with my health due to exhaustion (a holiday in Yarmouth does the same thing) but at the same time, we also need to do something like this now before it becomes completely impossible.

I've already planned out one activity though, something which has been my dream since I was a little girl...to swim with dolphins (although it will probably just be hold onto dolphins while they pull me along as swimming is something I can no longer do either!)

There are so many places I would love to visit in the world but I fear my time of doing that is almost passed and I won't get the chance without huge expense, organisation and stress.

So excited for you Sue. And you may well find, as OH and I did when we were lucky enough to visit New Zealand, that the warm weather and sunshine (at least, I'm assuming you'll get those!) makes you feel much better and gives you more energy, once you've got over the travelling.

DW spotted a coat she liked in Reiss a few months ago. It was rather expensive, so to be MSEs we decided to wait for the sales. Then 'Kate' was photographed wearing it, and they were all sold within a few hours. :(

That's a shame GDB - but on the other hand, no one will be looking at her in that coat and assuming she bought it because Kate had one :)

I had to get a new coat as the old one zip failed - 4 years use, £11.99 from sports direct is ok imho. The new one was 10.99 from Argos, I wonder how long it will last. (It got posted on hukd a few days later so then sold out very quickly - I don't care if people think I am only wearing it cos it was on hukd ;) )
    I think....

IMO you should be able to offset at least some of the cost.

I really don't get why people are so against more flexibility like this.

I also believe that people should get tax breaks if they go and seek medical work in European countries where it can be cheaper.

Very pleased yesterday to receive a super pair of shoes from the sales. Reduced to £66 from £110. :money: I've been watching them for months now, waiting for the sale! But it wouldn't have been the end of the world if I hadn't got them. I really like the Hudson shoes, but have always bought in the sales - best buy was a pair for £10. :j

Sadly the oversize cardigan I fancied in the John Lewis sale didn't drop price sufficiently for me to feel able to indulge. :( Nevermind, the moths would prob have eaten it anyway! ;)
