It's so glorious today - all the better as I thought the good weather was ending!
I was lured up the scaffolding on my project earlier. I really don't like heights, especially not where the floor isn't fixed and has gaps in it, but it was lovely to have a view not many people get. The house is so big, the scaffolding has actual stairs, not ladders, otherwise I'd have been crying.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Congratulations Percy and Mrs Percy!
_party_:beer::jDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Someone's had fun making patterns with the ride-on lawnmower!0 -
Momentous evening.
Considering fir is home to keep me warm he's managed to persuade me to take the summer bit of the tie together duvet off. I think in fact he is right and it might be more comfortable with the middle weight one on.
I slept this afternoon because the F%^#|># army are using our road heavily because it keeps no one else awake/ causes as much day time disturbance ( they are of course right to disturb as few people as possible, so its a personal gripe, rather than an actual complaint). Its been going on a week and we are half way through. I think they need to add a lot of wd40 to their supplies, every vehicle they have seems to squeak and freak at the exact pitch to enrage an over tired woman. I can guarantee you though, if they are going for stealth, they won't succeed as it stands.0 -
I had a visitor this evening (guess he used the knocker on my current door
)
Was the door chap. With a bottle of wine to apologise for the delays.
I told him I understood but have now built the door up so much in my head it can be nothing short of amazing
He said it will be - and that the colour looks lovely (they've already prepped it with undercoat and the first coat of paint). The next proposed installation date falls over my birthday so I told him he'd better not upset me on that date, and if there is any possibility of disappointment we should pick another date...
Anyhow. Back to my knockers...
The Black Country Ironworks website is the one I've been stalking for the past few months. Door fittings are all going to be silver/ chrome.
Currrent (long-running) favourite:
Woodpecker http://www.blackcountrymetalworks.co.uk/woodpecker-door-knocker-bright-chrome.htm
Also like...
Snail (but not available) http://www.blackcountrymetalworks.co.uk/bright-chrome-snail-door-knocker.htm
Dragonfly (think the wings are too wide)

And one less silly one:

Congrats to Mr and Mrs PercyHope the next few months go as smoothly as possible.

Which reminds me the house I grew up in had a large garden so we had a ride on mower I used to regularly mow the lawn and make funny shapes. You used to get those aerial photographs that they would attempt to sell you and my parents would buy one on occasion, it seems I mowed the lawn that week :rotfl:
Still have that mower I use it here it's a good 40 years old now the engine works well but other bits are starting to slowly fail. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0 -
I like the octagonal one and the heart one.
