I used to LOVE the skin on the rice pudding at school dinners! It was the only time/place I ever saw the skin and I loved it. As most people didn't eat/want the skin, the dinner ladies would scrape it to one side, so I'd usually get a good sized portion of it.

My friend's DD came home from school during her first few weeks and said happily "It was my turn for the custard skin today!"

"Did you eat it?" asked her mother in astonishment (the child wouldn't touch custard skin at home).

"Of course!" said child in surprise.

Lovely to see you LydiaJ :j

Not time to write more atm, got to go and help DGS and his fiancee + honorary DGD and her fiance to move boxes etc to the flat they're moving into together. Should be interesting as it's an unfurnished flat and they haven't got much furniture between them....still at least they've got beds! And we've a TV in working order they can have, and I remembered a little vacuum cleaner and a George Foreman Grill they can have too. No idea whether they've got stuff like binliners, but probably.

Well, tbh OH will be transporting boxes etc and I will be chatting to DD in her house and sipping tea ;)

I've just made my most extravagant purchase of the sale season (so far). Some loft ladders! Been trying to decide whether to get metal or wooden ones, but knew I wanted ones that are fitted rather than having to bring a ladder in from the garage. B&Q must have noticed a lot of Google searches for of ladders and thought they were the next Big Thing so put some on half price this weekend. Decision made :)

Will need to get someone in to fit them though as I think that's above and beyond my DIY skills. Once they're in I'll be able to have a proper look in the loft, work out whether it needs more insulation, get it boared and start reclaiming my dining room.

A nice Velux window's good too - for natural light. While a couple of lightbulbs, a headband with a torch, or other ad hoc arrangement's OK, but gloomy .... you can't beat good natural daylight flooding the area from a simple window.

It makes the loft area and what's stored in it feel more accessible as it's not the scarey dark loft space.

    Costs a few quid mind....

Maybe one day... There are other big house spends higher up the list though. My Aldi head torch well have to make do for the foreseeable!

Snatching 5 minutes peace before I start the cleaning up. not too bd here but I am slow, OH appears to be fending off a virus, DD is making chocolate roulade and has to school her off work horse this afternoon as he is going stir crazy.

    Not so many musicals here.

    Les mis
    Joseph- Philip schofield was Joseph
Phantom- OH loathes it as he says it only had one tune.
Evita- not me but Oh saw it - Elaine paige circa 1978

Mamma mia on Broadway. Just for the experience, but great atmostphere dancing in the aisles.

    Hated Sister Act, truly dire.

Had a nice, hot, filling lunch (yes, already)...... although I'd not looked at the time before now so hadn't realised it was so early.

Half a packet of stuffing, same quantity of instant mash, some frozen petite pois, two small yorkshire puddings and some instant gravy. All served in one of my (newish) 99p Store bowls I got the other week.

All while watching James Martin ponce about making 16 croissants (using 0.5Kg of butter for starters!).

    I bet my nuked dinner's healthier :)

Butter does have the advantage of being a natural product and not chemically processed? I think your peas are the only real food item on the list. I do worry about your eating, but then you're alive and stuff, so that's good.

Zag, we may, or may not pass within yards of each other.

I'm at junction 19 now, headed in the opposite direction to you for a while.

I can never say that. It's always me that's driving. I've always been the driver, I am the driver, I will always be the driver.
Soooo boring ..... endless driving. Dull, dull, dull. Can't even look out of the windows!

I prefer driving, though there obvious benefit to being able to share. Stereotypical gender roles are firmly in place in this car (and it's mine, not his!)

Today seems to be a rare time that I don't feel sick using my phone in the car.

    Recently I've noticed the same.

I am territorial over my car.
