I went to sleep around 11:30/ midnight last night. Had a nap yesterday afternoon so was expecting to sleep relatively lightly, and be at Homebase (to see whether they'd price match B&Q) not long after opening...

Woke up and noticed it was light outside. 9:45. Oops :o

Monday is going to be tough. Determined to have a 'good year' at work though [\game face]

Watching some idiot on Grand Designs, who is building a house from shipping containers... currently getting the lorry stuck that's transporting it. It's got disaster written all over this episode.

I love it, personally. The UK does eccentricity pretty well.

    I love the bath too.

DW tamed some of my ideas when we renovated. She ditched my plan to build a fish tank into kitchen cupboards :(
(I had all the measurements and weight calculations sorted too).

I love sprouts... but not got round to buying a dozen of them. There were loads of bags of sprouts for sale, cheap, pre-Xmas.... but one does feel a bit of a plonker buying just 12 sprouts.... I figure the weight of the bag would be almost as much as the sprouts.

I like sprouts, but don't usually bother with them except at Christmas. This time I was v pleased with myself for getting exactly the right quantity for my dad, DS and me (DD doesn't like them) with none left over and nobody wanting any extras. :D
There was an episode of GD (I think) where somebody had plans to put a fish tank in ....that was then not allowed by his sensible OH.

I seem to remember a while ago a show where young designers got to do a room each of a house, or something like that. One designer put a fish tank in the wall between the hall and the downstairs loo of a suburban semi or terrace - so that from the hall anyone could clearly see through the water to whatever was going on in the little room on the other side of the tank.

ETA I think the same designer did the floor and/or walls in the hall/loo with astroturf or something of that sort. No consideration for how it was to be kept clean!!

Phew! All caught up now. Feel I am back to being a bona fide NP now. :)

PS How is one supposed to pronounce "bona fide"? I have to admit I steer clear of it in speech, although I come across it often enough in writing to feel it's not completely obsolete.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Good. That's uber-chavvy.

Did you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Happy new year to all NPs!!

I've got a good feeling about this year. Things aren't perfect, but for a change I feel like things are within my control. So I'm not totally happy with my job, but I already have one, have good experience, etc so it shouldn't be too much of a challenge to get a new one plus I don't hate this one so it's ok for now.

When I find a new job I can find somewhere new to live too!

One of the "double your money" Sarah Beeney episodes had SB telling the owner that it was essential to have a feature fish tank in the kitchen. In the end the bloke couldn't afford it and so put in the plumbing for it without the tank.

I think I might cry .... having recalled that story, I looked up the address, then looked on RM. It was a typical, shabby, standard, council house .... in a non-descript position. Zoopla reckons its worth £531k.

    Unbelievable!
