    Never been :)

I'm with you on this PN - sure taking the family to the Lion Ling would be a wonderful experience.....that would last all of two and a half hours whereas the £300 (more) that it would cost could buy us a table tennis table that would give many hours of enjoyment over 10 years - I just can't get the spending money on experiences rather than things concept.
    I think....

Good to see you again lydiaj.

Not in the least surprised that it's difficult to find time to post.

Many changes to our jobs making it more difficult. :(

Got a big journey ahead tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Awww! All these welcomes. I feel cherished. :)

    Good luck tomorrow zag!

Going back to carry on catching up. Have just read from 27/11/15 to 12/12/15 so far.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yay! Belated congratulations to youngest. How old is he now?

He will be 18 in 3 months time...scary, where did the time go?

We've also done the first uni visit (ok, a little early as he doesn't go until 2017).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Lion King was a fabulously colourful show....but horrible seats.

    My top shows

    - Phantom
    - Les Miserables
    - Miss Saigon
    - Madame Butterfly
    - La Boheme
    - Singing in the Rain
    - Lion King
    - Annie

The argument about rational v irrational spend would rage long and hard into the night. Concorde was a stupid extravagance at the time, but I'm so glad we did it now - we won't ever have the chance to fly supersonic again I suspect.

I have been to several shows in London, mainly because ex's company used to do Christmas trips to London with a show instead of a party as it worked out cheaper.

My fave has to be Phantom of the opera although Buddy comes a very close second....Starlight Express had been one I wanted to see since I was a child but I wasn't actually that impressed when I finally did go.

Great fun when the boys started arriving, organising baby sitters and with Josh, having to express milk and then put up with the pain/leakage during the day and having to find somewhere to express to relieve things. Most uncomfortable was being quite heavily pregnant with youngest (we usually went in January rather than December), I managed to get BBQ sauce down my lovely white maternity smocked dress suit and looked a mess for the rest of the day to add insult to injury!

I don't object to others making different value decisions...and I had the chance to do Concorde one way returning club for £600 and didn't thinking the chance would bound to come up some other time - what a fool.
    I think....

Had my performance review today. In summary:

He: "So Generali, how come you're so fricking awesome (apart from at a couple of inconsequential things)"?
Me: "Just born that way I guess"
He: "Excellent. We're doubling your bonus. DO NOT LEAVE THE COMPANY".
Me: "Sweeet. More money, my favourite"
He: "Let's go and get a cuppa. Fancy doing some more days each week?"
Me: "Sure. As long as I do it from home"

I'd have agreed with you when I was younger but now I'd say the opposite.

I don't remember many of the things I owned 10 or 20 years ago but I do remember most of the experiences.

Both boys are very accepting of the meat milk rules at home and know where everything is and should be. As they have grown up with it, it's not been an issue in the house. They are also accepting of the rule that when we take them out for dinner we expect them not to eat non kosher meat and no shellfish. That rule obviously doesn't extend to the GF which makes me think the rule will need to renegotiated at some point.

Although I'm coming belatedly to this discussion, I just wanted to add that I'm finding it fascinating too. The NPT is my main contact with Jewish people.

Obviously parents with strong beliefs (whether a faith, or vegetarianism, or whatever) will have more of these things to deal with than other people, but I think in most families there is some kind of value system that you begin by making your children do while they're little and end by letting them make their own minds up about. Even if it's something trivial. I was the child who dropped my mother in it by publicly asking "Mummy, why do we have a milk jug and a tablecloth when Granny comes to visit?"

I also know beggur all about Islam. I know a bit about Buddhism and Christianity though.

I've been learning about Islam a bit since having a Muslim teacher in my department at work. He told me a while ago that he and his wife don't celebrate their birthdays because they believe it would be unislamic to do so, but had wrestled with the question of whether to allow their teenage son to do anything for his.

The school tried to force me to write and paint right handed, my teacher was old school and thought it was the sign of the devil.

I got my own back, they took the paintbrush out of my left hand and put it in my right hand and my very stroppy 5 year old self (I could even have been still under 5 at the time), accidently on purpose, lost control of my hand and painted the teacher, the walls and anything else which got in my way.

They let me use my left hand after that....think I proved the demonic idea! :rotfl:

That reminds me of the child of a friend of mine. The girl is veggie - has always refused to eat any meat products since she was weaned. One day when she was about 5 a school dinner lady made her eat some meat... and the child promptly threw up all over the dinner lady. Since then, everyone has respected her right to refuse meat...
